I lived the Damned all my adult life, seen them a bunch of times from 1977 onwards. The Captain is one of my all time favourite guitarist from any genre, a brilliant underrated player, but this guy Troy does a great job covering and fair play to him.

Both days, this was one of the best performances - the Violet Femmes and the Damned (I think Sunday's Damned may have been better) (and props to the Church, PIL and Blaqk Audio as very excellent - oh hell, everyone was great). Thank you for posting this video - the audio is surprisingly good for a cell phone - definitely captures the essence of the excellence. This event was comprised of LEGENDS! It was (what felt like) 600 degrees especially on Sat 5/14 (#cruelworld2022 indeed)and I got heat exhaustion (my heart monitor went off on me at over 150 bpm just standing in the eternal, quite literally infernal, merch line - I was well hydrated and wasn't even moving and I'm only like 30 lbs overweight and merely middle-aged hahaha - there was so much wrong with the fest but not the bands!); the bands - all experienced professionals, tourers, performers, just masters of their craft. #noregrets #legendary #thedamned

Speaking of overweight it looked like Peter Murphy was packing a few extra pounds but man he still has sone moves. And looks great with that beard and shaved head. What a day. I'm so jealous. Trapped in the east coast. So wjere was thebcaptain and isnt that Iggy Pops guitarist from 2016? saw the Damned open for Misfits at MSG. they were amazing!

There were some brutal overlaps between the bands on the 3 stages. The Damned should’ve been on the main stage with Bauhaus and PIL. My opinion. Overall though…it was a great time. It was 95 degrees during the day and I thought London After Midnight were going to melt. Dave Vanian was smart to take off the leather jacket. Hope they do this event again. Maybe better to try and book the venue in March or April. It felt like Mars.
@ryanbarnes8402 жыл бұрын
I too was melting. Such BS that this was the weekend LA had a heat wave....this is why any festival like this where people are going to be wearing black should be in San Francisco, or a cooler atmosphere. Golden Gate Park would have been perfect for this event. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it until the end. Way too hot, not enough shade, and lines for any refreshments were insane, including the fact it was like 8 bucks for a frozen lemonade treat. Only doing one of those events again if it's in a cooler environment or at a better time of the year.
@tonyduran42932 жыл бұрын
@@ryanbarnes840 I've been following this event booked dates as this was supposed to have been in September 2020. Yes perhaps in April or late September. Echo BM has stated that they'd be there next year so I'm hoping that to be true. I've wanted to see Damned and Echo since high school. I hope I'm not running out of chances. 👍
@garse702 жыл бұрын
I would recommend spending the extra $$$ for the VIP tix. We had shaded tents, no lines for restrooms or refreshments and easy sight and access to the main stage. Not to mention, we were out of there in two minutes because of the premier parking. Just a thought.

Looks like Monty Oxymoron on keyboards. I believe he left the band a couple of years ago but i guess is back for this tour. Nice setlist but I can't imagine standing there for the Damned in the hot Cali sun. That has to be the deadest looking Damned/ Punk audience I've ever seen. My first Damned show was in NYC 1978. Misfits was the opening act and probably one of the loudest concerts I've ever heard. Now that's entertainement!
