This is the first eight minutes her implant was turned on. We immediately notice how her eyes turn at a slight sound. For the fist few minutes you can see her mind working inwardly. This look of deep consideration displays a new level of concentration. Even through this she responds to sound clearly.
Once the music is started she cycles through another few moments of concentration and then begins humming to the sound! Everyone in the room, her two audiologists and both parents were in tears. Allie showed no fear and assimilated this new sense immediately.
In the two days following we've turned up her implant to level 3 and she continues to display immediate reactions to sound in new ways. She has begun to dance to music. Her voice has already begun to change. She has many moments of profound joy and laughter as she navigates this new found sense.
