You deserve more!!! I discovered your channel through your Olympic trial video so I guess that makes sense! I’m not much of a runner but I do share the experience of being an athlete and an EDC-D “alum” living in recovery. I really appreciate all of your content and have learned so much from you. Thank you 💜

It is honestly very shocking to me that you don’t have a heck of a lot more views and subscribers. I’ve just think you are so fantastic and entertaining and to know that you have had a meeting disorder and are able to be working on recovery while running, and going through the Olympic trials is something else!!!!! You deserve to be rewarded for being so open about your struggles and helping so many of us. I think you do an amazing job! In terms of videos for this coming year, I would love to hear how things are going recovery wise right now and what has helped you and what has not helped you!! Thank you for being you.❤

I agree she should have way more viewers. But I think that can happen thru marketing herself more & in different ways. I think she's absolutely awesome. And so many more people need to hear what she has to say. I stumbled upon her by complete accident. I guess the algorithm suggested it. Because I wasn't athlete and recovering from an eating disorder. So I look at a lot of fitness and recovery content

Love your tranparency about your KZfaq earnings, your training, your competitions and your dealing with a eating disorder. Your videos are inspiring, educational, and often entertaining (your facial expressions when training, your friends, your hijinks, and especially when Georgie shows up in the videos! HA!). Best of luck for an even more successful and prosperous 2024. Happy New Year, Allie O!

I’m glad to hear that you’re proud of your videos, especially the ones concerning ED. They’re extraordinarily important. I’m certain that they help other runners in like situations better understand that they’re not alone. And knowing that might just be the first step in seeking help. Yeah, you should be proud. It also interesting to learn about how KZfaq works. Just as your videos peel back the layers and uncover what it’s like to be a professional runner (super fascinating), so this video gives us a window into what it’s like to be the subject, producer, and manager behind your channel (again, super fascinating). The money is important and unimportant in the sense that one needs money to get by, of course, but no amount of money would be sufficient to account for everything that has gone into making you the person and athlete that your channel presents. In any case, yeah, you should be proud!

Love this Allie! Your video storytelling is an inspiration and I’m so glad you’re making an impact in the world while also being a full time athlete. It’s a lot to balance! Could you talk about recovery between workouts and what it feels like? How tired are you? What is your mood in the downtime? Do you ever feel both antsy and exhausted at the same time? Would love to hear more about that aspect. Thank you!

Way to go, Allie! As a content creator myself, I am always interested in seeing how other's are doing! One thing you didn't mention was the 8-minute video length / Mid-Roll ads. For instance, I compared some of your earnings with my own videos, for example, your video with 60k views made 476 dollars because it's over 8 minutes and viewers may have seen 3-4 ads during the video in total. My videos that have 60k views only made around 100 dollars because viewers may or may not see just 1 ad at the start of the video because my videos are only 3-5 minutes generally. Just a little tidbit of info for anyone who is thinking of pursuing this! 8 minutes is they key mark for long-term, it's just not feasible in my content! Thanks for sharing and keep up the awesome work!!

Allie....you truly shared excellent dialogue and perspective of your experiences and earnings for the videos that you produce. When you are making in the vicinity of $50-$100 per hour, that is doing well. Of course your focus is with your amazing running career and achieving all that you are able. Yet, to have supplementary income in the vicinity of $20,000, is excellent. In watching your presentation, the following that I write, is shared from my decades long career with economics, finance, and real estate development and investment, with both the public and private sector. If am just being my analytic self, what I saw in this video is somebody who is exceptionally well organized, communicates amazingly well, is highly relatable, and completely trustworthy. What came to mind as I was watching you, is that in the world I have been in, you would be a great corporate vice president or president. You have this wonderfully non-transferable skill....of being you, for which the greatest part of that, is sharing who you are, and of your journey, in which you tell it like it is. All of this with 100% responsibility, and that is very, very rare. Although you might not make a bijillion dollars from KZfaq right now, as long as you keep pursuing your dreams in the very best way that you can, no matter whether you do make a bijillion dollars, or not, you will have led a tremendously successful life. I hope you have a long and amazing professional running career. But I can see you years down the road of being a speaker, an author, or maybe the owner of an awesome bakery, or who knows...Vice President of Normal or Nike? I'll leave you with my favorite quote....."Follow your dreams and enjoy the trip", and that is what you are doing!

Thank you so much for doing this! I’ve always been so curious how much people make on KZfaq but never wanted to ask. I’m curious which of your videos did the “worst”…. Funny how my favorite videos are just your regular workout days, Georgie being cute, you making coffee, etc. Also interesting about the shorts, some creators post a ton of those, I was thinking they were more lucrative. I love how transparent you are in general, it takes a lot of bravery. Do you know if you make more money if we comment or if we watch ads in their entirety or only the first 15 seconds?

This was a great video. I found it interesting. I've never thought about how much you make but have always been amazed how long and inconvenient it must be to constantly be filming yourself. I feel so happy that you do it because it brings me so much joy to see you become a professional runner after watching you as a high school runner in Alaska. After what you have gone through with ED and listening to a women's panel in Anchorage of xc skiers talk about ED among skiers I just commend each of you women who have survived and pushed on to get through it alive and push so hard to recover. I've had cervical cancer and been declared free of cancer but the other side of it is all the non-cancer problems that no one tells you about and I suspect that ED probably has the same issues of repercussions that continue to crop up regarding recovery that you weren't expecting. Anyway I hope 2024 brings some exciting results for you and I'll be watching!

wow, thank you so much for this comment. I am so happy for you that you are now cancer free! What you said about post-cancer problems certainly applies to Eds too. I think online recovery can be glossed over like "I ate more and now everything is great", but the reality is that it really takes YEARS to heal the damage and more years after that to truly get rid of all the rules, guilt, and shame around food...not to mention learning new coping mechanisms. I could go on! I'm sure that it's similar for you with your post-cancer recovery, so I wish you all the best. You are so strong!

Hi Allie, I just saw this video and I haven’t seen any others but a very good video. I’m a creator that has two monetized KZfaq channels and you are doing really good keep it up. I also followed your races back when you use to run up that mountain in Alaska as a teenager. You were an inspiration to me in my fifties when I took up running. I also was a fan of Scott Jurek who I met running in Boston in which I beat him but only because he was running with his wife who was many months pregnant. Glad your still running and feeling better.

Appreciate your efforts and videos. That number is not enough to live on, and you should be paid more. Your videos are inspiring and valuable to those involved in competitive distance running. You suggest 20 hours a week and at 50 weeks per year, that is 1,000 hours and you were paid $20k. That’s $20/hr which is far too close to minimum wage. You should be paid more like $50/hr for content of this quality. Hopefully you can reach higher numbers in the future. Keep up the good work!

Hi Allie! I love your videos! You rock! A few video ideas I’d love to see are as followed: 1. How do you recover and manage sleep when traveling across time zones when you race, especially internationally. 2. How much of your time do you spend prepping and traveling to and from your workouts. I find that even if it’s a 40minute workout I still need to allocate 2hrs, driving to the gym, warmup, actual workout, cooldown, drive home, shower, etc. It would be cool to see a breakdown of time rolling for your gym sessions for example. 3. How far in advance do you plan for races, and what kind of races are in the books for Allie for 2024. Thanks!

Allie, you're not getting rich, but you have a nice apartment and eat well, so you're doing okay, which I am happy about. I've watched your story for a few years, and I find it interesting. You have a nice way of telling your story, and there's natural humor there, which I like. Well, it's funny, what's not to like? Also, you're a really talented runner! Those mountain races that you won in the beginning of your career were defining races for you, showcasing your grit, stamina, and never-die attitude. Those are characteristics of someone who will rise to the top of their field. I hope you will learn your lessons (eating, etc) and find the formula of your training regimen so that you can compete with the best and set some records. I was a runner, and a friend and I created a race that's still going on, 40 years later, as far as I know. It's the Eureka Springs Victorian Classic. It started as a 10K. My friend won it the second year, and I came in second. Anyway, it's a great race, so hilly! The town is interesting and accomodating, a tourist town. You should race there sometime, early spring. I like your videos. Your intimate, sharing videos are so helpful and inspiring for those who suffer similarly, thanks for doing those. Helping people is a virtue, and although it doesn't pay in money that well, it pays in heavenly accounts. keep it up, young lady! Finally, shorts don't pay well, but you look good in your shorts, and they are funny usually. I love your expressions in them, so funny. Keep having fun with them. A fan. Oh, I almost forgot... I don't see anything wrong with offering your fans, the ones who want to do it, the opportunity to help you stay in a nice apartment and pay the expenses of being a professional athlete. Patreon is one platform for that, and there are probably others. Talk to an IT friend about it. You need sponsors. OK, God bless you.

Really interesting breakdown. Illustrates how dysfunctional the KZfaq algorithm is that so much dross makes its creators so much money, but quality content like yours earns a very modest income. You deserve better! I'm curious about the ads - if a skip button is available and I skip, does that affect your earnings? I'm happy to let the ads play if it means you get more! Also what difference does liking and subscribing make??

The algorithm is constantly changing, but right now the best things a person can do to help the video reach a wider audience is to watch all the way through the video, like, comment, and also click the suggested video at the end. No pressure to do that, just sharing the info! Also, watching through the ads does help a little bit with the amount made, but I'm guessing it's very small, so don't waste your time watching all the ads!
