Tanmay Bhat and Satyanshu Singh discuss greatest movie scenes along with three AIB : First Draft students - Dhruv Narang, Arati Raval Pandey and Gaurav Mishra.
India is full of storytellers. But too often, their stories go untold due to a lack of training, exposure and opportunity. At AIB, we believe that nothing should hold back a talented writer willing to work hard.

A really good Podcast. Would love to see more of Satyanshu. Heck you guys can let him have a whole set of video series all to himself, where he talks about movies. I would suggest that something on the lines of what the Cinefix youtube channel does would also work great, from an Indian perspective. However, I would have to say the others on the round table felt more like they were here for just their series promotion. Having a separate chat with those guys without having Satyanshu guide/lead the conversation would also be something to look out for. Cheers Guys, keep up the good work.

16:40 - Brooding man over the window, 1. The man is squeezing and releasing a yellow smiley ball. After a brief moment, he checks the scars on his forearm. His eyes fall on the photo of his family. Then he hears the beep on his watch. He sighed and turned. Finally, he puts a file ‘Department of Nephrology’ in his bag and leaves. (Drama) 2. The man is playing with a Rubic cube. He checks the cube and continued. Then the camera moves around the room. It is a child’s room. Suddenly, he puts the solved cube down on a table and left. (Thriller)

The guy sits down on a sofa and switches on a tv while litting a cigratte then the ad pops up don't smoke "its harmful for health". He puts down his cigratte, and then at the end, it shows "apne liya nhi toh apne pariwaar ke liya toh chod do" then he gets up and picks up his cigratte and smokeswhile going to the window.

Interesting. Let me add some layers into Your character. The guy is a 40 year old bachelor with no family. So, when the ad says, "its harmful for health" he put the cigarette down. But when they mention about the family part, he gets annoyed and picked up the cigarette.

What AIB is trying to do is promote creativity and innovation this channel is not just about comedy. The youth or other people who are trying to make their career in film and media AIB is trying to help and encourage them. These people decoded how things work behind the screen and what efforts, creativity hardwork and what not is put together to make just one scene where people can indulge themselves in the movie.

In The God Father, the girl wasn't actually raped but was beaten really badly because she resisted to have sex with her boyfriend and his friend. The girl's father wanted Vito Corleone to kill those guys but he denied to do so because he said that those guys didn't kill the girl and the same will happen with the guys (like they will be beaten really badly) and that would be the real justice. That really explained a lot of things about the character at the beginning of the film. He tells Bonasera (that girl's father) that Someday, and that day may never come, I will call upon you to do a service for me. But until that day, accept this justice as a gift on my daughter's wedding day. In one of the scenes when Sonny (Vito's son) died, he goes to Bonasera (he has a funeral parlour) and asks for a service to use all of his skills and powers to get the Sonny back because he doesn't want his wife to see her son like this and you get to see a KING weep. Just like that, most of the scenes of Godfather are truly masterpiece and this movie will always be my favorite one. Great podcast guys. It was really insightful. :)

The god father does ask for a favour. But later in the movie when he actually does, it shows you that its not your generic movie where he asks him to do somthing unethical which generally happens. Instead he has a simple request which shows his character and his devotion to his family. A masterpiece.

I had just sat down for dinner with my friends and they were watching some TV serial. I usually don't even sit there as I hate those. But then, I thought maybe it will refresh me as I had a long day at office today. After some 10 minutes, I got up feeling that I cannot take this shit anymore. Opened up KZfaq and just clicked on this podcast to just check if it's interesting... I would like to say this was one of the best podcasts I have seen till now. The amount of in depth knowledge Satyanshu has in his field, I wish I had in mine. The way he explained everything about the different scenes from various films he talked about, I could understand word by word even though I have zero idea of how to make films. Everyone was given proper time to speak on their understanding of cinema and nobody was cutting in between. The other people also spoke very well. This, almost an hour long video was so good that I did not even realise so much time passed away. It ended properly on time and with the right amount of information. I hope to see more of such videos coming on KZfaq.

I am currently doing a degree in Media and we learnt all this with the technical terms in one of our first courses. Our teacher talked about all the things they just discussed plus more including the Classical Hollywood continuity techniques and the scene from Psycho. When at around 20 mins Tanmay asks the question if the experience of watching a movie has changed after the course, a common answer which they don't talk about here is that knowing what went into making the movie and giving it the elements to have the effect it has, just makes the good movies seem even more brilliant and the bad ones, even more annoying. For me, the experience of watching a movie has been added with layers, one layer is just watching it as the common audience and the other layers being me mentally dissecting the techniques which they used to manipulate my thoughts and perception as the audience; which, ultimately also helps you realize how much thought actually went into the making of it.

I was looking for this comment because I was too lazy to put it in words myself. But now that I have begun, I think it can be encapsulated in the simple fact that the more you learn a craft by reading or watching or practicing or discussing it, whatever, the tougher it gets for you to identify positively with the mediocre and the "not good enough". Although you do both applaud and empathize with the amount of work and time spent on these projects, you know it could have been done in a different or better way. And that is also the standout reason why the different and the new hits you in the face harder.

Please do a Part 2. A very smart podcast. Aib should do a lot more of these. Would like you'll to discuss 1. "You was my brother, Charlie" scene from On The Waterfront and the same in Raging Bull. 2. Gangs of Wasseypur 3. Montgomery Clift's Oscar nominated scene in Judgment At Nuremberg.

Wish someone had spoken about David Fincher, maybe because I recently binged Mind Hunter. That opening sequence of the social network where Mark is speaking to his girlfriend is brilliant. The opening sequence of nocturnal also was just wow. The way he portrays those ladies as art installation is something else.

I think writers are much underrated in our film industry but let's not forget that without writers a film cannot be made. Please encourage more young talented writers. Thanks AIB.
