Tim Buckley, a lot of my uncles worked on that job. My family had property that was taken over by its filling.Stienke Bay that was their Last name. As a kid I flew over it in a piper airplane in the early 1950s . My uncle Alvin gave me a ride. They where N Dakota boys. I loved N Dakota and work on the farm out of Garrison 4mi.out of it. Also helped my uncle Charlie Slickymeyer Turtle lake, he owned the livestock sales yard. I had great experiences on the farms and ranches. Loved It! I was blessed..

Back when Americans took PRIDE in there WORK..I've been operating sense I was 16 years old. I'm 58 now. And when I was a Kid My Dad Drilled it into my head too Take care of the Equipment. And to this Day I Grease my own Machine and Check out Thoroughly every morning while it's warming up. Guys ask me why I do. And I tell them it's because it's how I was Taught. And the machine I'm using is How I make my Money..Why Wouldn't I...I only wish WE would go back to the ways it was done back then .These Guys in this Video were True Hard Working Americans..Great Video. I could watch these Videos all Day .Thanks for sharing it The Guys today don't take Pride in Anything they do in what I've seen in the Past 25 Years ..

Yup, it's tough to watch sometimes, but we still need to keep on beating the drum! The clip is a great inspiration, and I really gets me rev'd up - my dad was a real stickler on maintenance and taking good care of equipment. I've done the same with my son, and it's a real treat to watch him push it hard on the guys he manages at his work. I'm sure my dad is smiling down every time my son teaches his guys the same values and importance of maintenance/work ethic that were handed down. God bless and keep the faith! Thanks for watching and giving us some of your insight, I appreciate it!

I actually got to operate an Allis Chalmers HD16 Dozer. The company also had one of the HD 20s with the fuel filled torque converter. It was an interesting unit. The GMC 6-71 would run at a constant speed, and the tractor would speed up or slow down as the load changed.

Awesome insight sir, I appreciate you watching and commenting! We had a small AC dozer, just can't remember too much info on it though. My dad sold it as he didn't really use it. I sure wish we still had it, it just makes a fella realize you really need to think about selling the old iron first! He did call me, and I gave him a "sounds good" a little too quick!!

Awesome and God bless you!! I rode with my dad on our farmer's sized AC bulldozer all the time! I used to operate an HD7. Two stroke Detroit power. Foot padal starter. Coul sure push and pull. I was 17 years old. Working up hill country here in New Zealand. Giant Disc, TAndem Discs and double set of chain Harrows. The old gurl pulled all three hitched on at once. Sometimes ploughed first with a Nuffield 465 two wheel drive Tractor then rolled with a Cambridge roller.😂

I'm afraid you are right. All the so-called smart financial guys look at depreciation and after that runs dry they dump it. Thanks for your comment and information, I appreciate it! Back in rural Iowa, the county hired any farmer with a dozer to work building the many gravel roads out in the country! We had a boom in gravel roads, but much smaller, more of a bang!! ha ha - I need to try and find some photos or my uncle John building the roads we still use today. @@opasvintagegarage Many great contractors and construction equipment manufacturers innovations and standardization began during the highway boom ie Allis Chamlers, Euclid, New Holland Terex, etc, which has lead to the heavy equipment industry we have today and it’s great to see these old videos of the equipment, projects and contractors of the past generation. we may never see such huge growth, projects and equipment again as we did during those decades.
