Her BEST SCENE in my opinion is when she’s on the phone talking to his friend, and her face is BLANK, yet her voice is emotionally diving up and down to fake worry or sympathy.

She's a psychopath rather than a sociopath. She, her family, and their entire community are psychopathic in that they are cold and calculating, without conscience or empathy. Like slaveholders and slave societies, like Nazis and other genocidal nations, they have decided that it's perfectly rational and justifiable -- even ethical -- to force one group of people to die in the service of another group.

Part of the praise is that it's one of the only horror movies in which the black characters "win" at the end of the movie, as opposed to the standard horror movie trope where the black characters die at the beginning of the film. Peele stated on another talk show his reasoning along those lines.

Her performance was so subtle. She just makes you feel like you should like her, and she says all the right things, but there's this uncomfortable gut feeling and this intensity about her that is subconsciously unnerving. You can see why he bought her bullshit, but at the same time there's something *so weird* about how she acts in the cop scene, and her goodness seems weirdly exaggerated. When she shows her cards you hate her *so much,* but at no point did the performance seem inauthentic. She's just a really excellent actress. Jordan Peele has a hell of a knack for picking excellent actors. The leads in US are also world-bendingly phenomenal and he is such an amazing director.

I think it was implied in the novel that peter killed the lost boys when they got too old. because peter is the only one that doesn't grow up once the other boys get too old he kills them. Mind, i haven't read the novel, this is just what i've heard being discussed before about peter pan.
@sparklemotion1018
@sparklemotion1018 6 жыл бұрын
+ PaolaP This is not discussed in the play, and it's not explained in the novel, either. Why would he kill his friends when he could send them home to their families? In the play, the Boys are all sent home and they do grow up. Peter himself can't/won't go home because he believes that his family has forgotten him, and now he can't remember anything about them, either.
