Renewed, re-energized ABB with Warren, Woody, and Marc. And Dickey being his badass wailing self. Good times.

Drum solos in the last quarter or so of a rather frantic 20-minute song are indeed a testament to strength and dedication on the part of the percussionists!

🤩 It’s ironic how often during the last year or so I’ve been searching for a GOOD version of this 👍 song, when today THIS ‘magically’ appeared on YT algorithm’s recommended videos! All I’d found before now were done by other artists, and most of those videos were taken by ‘amateur’ audience members during concerts they were at. (I do the same when I go and am not putting anyone down for having poor quality ones!) I’m 70ish and was a classically trained pianist and organist since I was 5, but have always 💖’d ALL genres of music, regardless of the style - as long as it’s done by talented artists - which the original ABB was imo!

I know Duane is smiling, looking down on this incredible performance. You couldn't possibly find a better guitarist to fill those huge shoes left empty with Duane's passing. Dickey is no slouch on the guitar either. They two of them weave so well thru their styles of playing. Mesmerizing is the only word that describes them best.

Let's never forget Dickey also wrote this masterpiece!

Hum 🤔 - IDK about you, but imho think Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and others are/were better 🎸ist’s!

It's so weird, up until 3:42 Dicky's playing a Les Paul with humbuckers. After that he magically had one with P90's. Then later he's back to humbuckers.

I bet the video is from multiple nights
@nonmember87252 ай бұрын
I was at this show. Dickey broke a string on the humbucker LP, and it was quickly replaced (after a quick flash of anger from Dickey) by the P90 LP. Then during Warren's solo he was handed the original LP back. Clearly the footage has been cleverly edited to make it more seamless.

My opinion is that the version from the original Live from Fillmore East is the definitive version (not a controversial opinion). But actually in the box set of the full recordings there is a version on the 4th or 5th CD that may just be superior to it. Other great versions: The one from Atlanta International is pretty great The Live cd they did in the mid 70's has a version where Dickey's guitar playing is phenomenal (plus a Chuck Levall organ solo) One from the 2003 recordings with Derek Trucks Plus the 1991 version from Beacon recordings *yes, I've given this some thought over the years* (

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bad version , yet - just different One of the special things about the ABB was this ability to tap into that grey area of Rock/Jazz , imo- this song is surreal knits melody and tension building A masterpiece, really.
