As a husband or wife, you have a unique opportunity to show love and grace to your spouse. On this two-day Focus on the Family broadcast, Brad and Marilyn Rhoads openly share their terrible first year of marriage and how God intervened to introduce the concept of grace in their relationship. You’ll better understand how marriage is a picture of the gospel and learn ways to honor your spouse in a more grace-filled, loving manner.

What I loved the most about this is that after all the struggles they can look back and laugh. Satan didn't win. Not all of us can look back and laugh because of trauma but we can look back and at least smile if we've made it to a healthy spot. There can be unspeakable joy on the other side of trials. You can see the love they have for one another. That's redeeming grace.

This is insanely accurate. I hate it, truly. As a Christian wife I hate that the roles are for real. But the story is so similar every Christian marriage that speaks out. Some just take a little longer than others. But I am so grateful for yalls story. So happy to see a couple that has arrived and is helping other couples because of their triumph in Christ.

Thank you for honest comment. The role is for men as well as women. I think once we accept Jesus as our savior and accept grace and then accept our roles we will find peace and a loving pure power indescribable in God's Grace and mercy

20:42 Jim: Where do you think... are the majority of couples failing? Brad: They take offense at the manifestation of the struggle and withdraw, as opposed to having a posture of pursuit and rescue.

So often if we see the red light on the dash, in the normal day-to-day struggles, we can help our spouse get to a better place pretty quick. That's where the majority of us find ourselves missing a key opportunity. When two people are pursuing Jesus and one another, loving one another well, laying their lives down for one another....that makes for a marriage that can not only survive but thrive!

@@cherishawan9693 Ah Cheri, I'm so sorry. If you're not already working with counselor, I know Focus can help with that. We'd love for you to get wisdom on how you should approach this situation. We want you to thrive in your marriage and sometimes it's so hard to just feel stuck. As we are praying today, we will be praying specifically that your husband's heart would be softened and his words would be full of grace. Please make sure that you're surrounding yourself with support and a counselor/church leader who can help both of you. Much love to you ♡

You need to talk with a counselor. Since everyone's situation is different, the best thing for you to do is allow a counselor to evaluate your situation and provide what is best for your situation. Focus has counseling available through their website.

Grace Marriage is right, Tamecha. We hope this Q&A will offer some insight - bit.ly/47SGxaE. Our counselor callback information is linked at the bottom, as well. Please know we're praying for you. May God give you wisdom and may His presence be your comfort and strength in the days ahead.
