We continue to get acquainted with the architecture and history of Almaty.
Today we will see a masterpiece of Soviet neoclassicism with art deco elements, the famous Issyk Hotel.
Nowadays, the Zepter company office is located in the hotel building.
The three-story hotel building was built in the architectural style of Soviet neoclassicism or Stalinist Empire style.
Its façade is richly decorated with Ionic columns and sculptures placed in niches.
According to legend, the face of the female sculpture is a portrait of the great ballerina Galina Ulanova, prima ballerina of the Mariinsky and Bolshoi Theaters.
The first mystery of this building is the exact year it was built.
The second mystery is whether the ballerina Galina Ulanova lived in this hotel?
