If you knew anything about islamic history you would know that there is no recorded Islamic history for its first 200 years (I think Ghamidi mentions this also). The acutal literature you are talking about has been fabricated by third rate maulvis. Take for example the case of making Hussain into an infalible imam. How can a sane self-respecting person who reads the Quran can believe in such BS is beyond me. As for Syeds, the fact that your great great grandmother was ravaged by some maurading Arab is no sign of greatness or pride. All you need to know about Islamic history is summed up be Iqbal when he says: Haqiqat Khurafat Mein Kho Gyi Ye Ummat Rawayat Mein Kho Gyi The truth has been lost in absurdities, And the Ummah is lost in traditions.

I think you have been brainwashed by the maulvis of the shia cult that is why you can't even understand an academic study of history when it is presented to you. You should look at the period following Muhammad's death as a time of struggle for political power among the various Arab tribes. There is nothing sacred about it. The clergy of shia sect has successfuly made Ali into a demigod so that they can claim power and there followers lap it up without using their brains.

Ghamidi Sahib has been on record saying that Ali R.A was nothing more than a " Jaleel ul Qadr sahabi " . He totally ignores his services and his stature during Prophet SAW times, he practically "demotes" him to an ordinary Sahabi. In this scenario , how could his opinion be regarded as neutral. This is the softest version of my two scents.

You started with taking support from Hadith and acknowledging the work done by Mohaddiseen and then totally ignored the huge data of Ahadith clearly telling us what amir muawiya was doing and why he did so.
