The true story of the first ascent of the North Fork Mountain Traverse.
Almost Alpine is a climbing film made by three climbers from the Appalachian Mountains. It is a mockumentary based on the actual first ascent of the North Fork Mountain Traverse in West Virginia. This is the epic climb that shook the climbing community to its core and redefined the American classic. Join Chad, Jeremy and Alpine Jesse as they tackle one of the longest rock climbs in the world. Develop a new appreciation for the Mid-Atlantic region as the trio uncovers a myriad of new and old climbing areas during their training and preparation for the climb. Unlock the secrets of training hard and taking it to the next level; the über level. Learn how to talk like a rock climber, and develop a new appreciation for the art of belaying. Entirely filmed and produced by local climbers.
A film by Jeremy Tooley, Chad Heddleston, and Jesse Von Fange

Bummed that Petzl didn’t give you guys any credit for stealing the “world’s best belayer” character...Alpine Jesse is the OG!

Petzl actually hooked us up (us as in my husband Alpine Jesse, and the rest of the guys/wives) with $1,000 worth of gear as reconciliation!

After a dunking like that into a pool of frozen water, the belationship sould never have been given a second chance.

"I had two belayers. I mean, you wouldn't start an ice climb without two ice axes--what if you dropped one? I had to drop Jesse." // Those girls, however nice they may be, they degrade this climb. I mean, how can we focus on the level of climbing accomplishment that we are about to achieve when there are women involved." Comedic gold, 10/10.

I just suddenly passed out in poetry section and suddenly woke up when it finished. It is like a chasm in link of consciousness a negative/meaningless analogy of the last hundred pages of Joyce''s Ullysess.

Had an 'ole climbing buddy of mine share this with me. Right out of the gate I have enjoyed chuckling and reminiscing about epic climbs from my past. Y'alls work is 100% solid and highly entertaining! Thank you! Gonna have to start using the quote "Cauterize your wounds with the fires of your passion". Sums up life brilliantly!

I thoroughly enjoyed this. I plan to hold a candlelight vigil in memory of the dearly departed Alpine Jesse (1946 - 2018) atop the Bridger Jacks this Saturday if anyone would like to join.

A purist would only traverse sideways. My protractor grades this slope at 19.5°, so you only did 6598.490ft of pure climbing. Clearly, you didn't know about the Great Falls Traverse which climbs 9000 horizontal feet on some of the world's hardest unmixed easy fifth terrain. It would be virtually identical to the Emperor's Face if you removed the snow, weather, rockfall hazard, and hard climbing.
