There is a clear and obvious reminder on the PSU cables for each brand that they are not to be used with different PSU's. That's all on you, modular psu cables are not universal or interchangeable, sometimes not even on the same brand between models. They specifically state that in the manual and box you get with the psu's.

A great video to remind everyone never to mix and match modular PSU cables, even from the same manufacturer and brand. Always use the set of cables which came specifically with the PSU. The pinouts for power plugs are standardised on the motherboard side, but they can be different on the PSU side, so using different modular power cables can cause electric shorts.

Hey Deb. Are you sure those pin-outs on PSUs are all the same between the Corsair and SilverStone units? Also, if you're up for it, open up one of the fried PSUs and see if there isn't perhaps a fuse that you can replace to get it up and running again as I'd expect that level of protection from SilverStone.
@Z1M0Z1M
@Z1M0Z1M 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Gary. I was thinking the same thing about the pin out differences at first but she didn't use the cabling from the SilverStone with the Corsair unit, she just used extensions which have zero issues when using between differing PSU manufactures. Unless the cable extension had a crossed wire its just extending the preexisting cabling. I've heard some horror stories with the SX1000 though. I think trying to cram that much power into a SFX unit requires precise attention to detail. If parts Caps, Mos, etc. aren't exactly up to spec than your asking for issues. I heard Gamers Nexus is looking into this issue.

Correction! Now THREE power supplies. You should know (but do you?) that different manufacturers have different cable pin outs and you can't just swap between them using any old power supply cable you like. Test thoroughly with multimeter and power supply tester. The information is in the motherboard manual, the internet and power supply manufacturer. Also, whoever made up you blue cables may have goofed up. Trust nobody's work, always check up first. Geez ....

😂 I guess plumbing is not your forte. However I fail to understand how it was possible to pass the air pressure test and then have a leak afterwards. And apparently also you don't understand that if a leak is present the first thing is to shutdown power supply , a leak and electricity present would most likely mean damaged components.

And using cables from different PSU!! Are you nuts!?? I think you are just taking the piss and showing everybody what should NOT be done. The only thing I saw you did well as to spread thinly the thermal paste prior to installing the CPU waterblock. Many KZfaq videos show that done wrong.

@@bosambo Yes indeed ! It was a total of 3! I realised this after I had posted and carried on watching. (shaking my head the whole time!) I almost began to think this was an April 1st joke..... Not all PSUs have the same pinout in their cables. You can't just swap PSUs, even with the same brand. You must ensure the pinout on the cables is identical or you risk shorting 12V to ground. Frankly, you're lucky you didn't fry the PC...

3 units is user error. You didn't go back to the basics of the basics and dismantle your rats nest of a cable tangle, you've got a feedback or earth loop going on somewhere First clue, the pump not working on the cablemod cables but working on silverstone. Second Clue, cablemod cables work on Corsair but not on Silverstone. Heres where reality hits you and you can no longer blame silverstone for your mistake. For the 6 pin sockets, Corsair and Silverstone use a different pinout for the 3.3, 5v and Ground Corsair GRD 5 GRD 3.3 5 12 Silverstone 5v GRD 3.3 NC GND 12 Obviously, your pump isn't going to run when you invert ground and 5v, or 3.3v and ground, however this is not enough to fry the psu. What killed your Units, is that Silverstone uses a significantly differently pinned ATX 24+4 pin connector, while Seasonic and Corsair use a more similar (but still different) 18+10. SX1000 www.silverstonetek.com/goods_cable_define/sx1000-lpt-cable-define.pdf SF750 linustechtips.com/uploads/monthly_2020_03/corsairsf450.thumb.png.deee98794529d0f9c8450ec3b6e562d7.png Thor i.redd.it/hgjx48t6i6c41.jpg Make no mistake, the Thor will kill something at some point on the corsair cables, but it won't immediately show issues like the Silverstone would.
