The bit at the end was so real because I had my players once go into a dungeon that was the secret hideout for a cult and they ended up briefly passing through a library. And now i had set up that there were three doors and there was a whole puzzle with statues and everything. But then instead of bothering about that they tried rhe doors, realised they were locked and instead of trying to figure out the puzzle (that I was clearly hinting at ans statues unlocking doors had been the mechanic for the whole dungeon) they used the door for a spell that will make an object glow for a few hours and then make it disappear. (It was not meant to be used that way) and instead spent the whole time reading the books and trying to decode the language. They would ask if it seemed like an alphabet or hieroglyphs and the thing is I HAD NOT PLANNED FOR THEM TO LOOK AT THE BOOKS.

I love getting this in my own campaign. We play in the fantasy high setting, as college students in Bastion City. And our dm off-hand mentioned an npc that we decided to talk to for a reason I can't even remember. That npc mentioned he was a referee for a sport called Cow Wrestling. Cow Wrestling is when two druids turn into a Cow and wrestle. And we have become obsessed with it. We started a Cow Wrestling club. We go to matches. My Paladins summoned steed is a Cow. We still keep in contact with the npc that was supposed to be a one off character.
