Hey Jay - hopefully you read this. the Braid is freezing! so that is why you are getting some crazy near into the drink rod issues. What is recommended for braid users is to strip 5 yards of braid and then re-reel so the frozen braid can peel better. Hope this helps

I agree with you, but I also am of the opinion that the rod is way too long for the size of the rig. I made mine bigger and problem solved. I've been hooked into some big fish with a tangle and not had a problem.

I run 40" rods on mine , never had one tip over . But this year we had some slide from the wind . I drilled a hole at the back of the base ,and use an ice anchor to hold it down.

You should try a baitfeeder reel with the second drag system, you will never lose a rod again, unless they spool you! I use the Okuma brand and I love them, look into it.

You definitely got your steps in that day with all the running around to tip ups!! Tip Ups are the best kind of fishing especially when the fish cooperate!!

Awesome to see some of the Canadian boys using the finiky fooler. They are made about 2 hrs south of me in Wisconsin. I had a 4lb large mouth bass tip over my finiky fooler. I was thinking about drilling a hole in the fooler and using an ice anchor for your shack to keep the fooler from tipping over. Great video Jay.

I've been using the finicky fooler for a couple of years now . Drill a hole at the back of the base , then I take an ice anchor, and screw it to the ice . After I get a fish I make short cast to keep my line from freezing on the spool .plus I run okuma abf reels with an open bail and the bait feed drag engaged. Just to be sure.

You guys need to come to BC and try some bull trout fishing. The Wigwam and Fernie area hold some of the world records. And In terms of videography you will have no shortage of amazing shots in the surrounding area.

Those Finicky Foolers are great tipups. But I don't think the balance is right with them having a four foot rod in their rod holder. I've never had one tip over before but the longest rod I have used with them is 27 inches. Also the hole covers they sell are the best I've ever used and there'd be no chance of the rod going down the hole! With all that said, the ifish pro is probably a better setup for when you're using rods as long as you have.

Jay! Love your content. I love your videos but I have never ice-fished and would love to someday. You should do a video where you go ice fishing with a budget or bare minimum set up and show how you can do it without all your fancy gear. Would love to see it.

Looks like you had the line ran wrong on the finicky fooler a couple of those times. It needs to be ran through the rubber adjuster and the end/hook of it. Not between the rubber and pivot point. Been using foolers for years never lost a rod or had a scare like that.

Anyone fish with large live bait with a finnicky fooler? I've tried and I can't get it to work. Either false flags all day. Or it doesn't release. I went back to my ifish pros for large suckers n shiners. Deadbait and up to fatheads the finicky fooler is great.

Weird. I haven't seen this from you before but you just about had to be trying to make the Finicky Fooler look bad. I've used them a ton and never had one tip. Your next video for trout you pack your jaw jacker in with snow to keep it in place. Why wouldn't you do that with your Fooler? The FF is a good product. To have that many issues is user error.
