Laughed at 'Summer' - the 3 days in May where temps reached higher than 20 degrees :D Soap is a good and cheap way to identify leaks, can't argue with that. In the past I've used a sealant/conditioner and dye mix which glows when a UV light is shone on it. This really helped in my car when I couldn't really see any bubbles from the soap but the UV light showed instantly where the leak was. Great vid as always, keep them coming :)

Hahaha 😅 Right?! I think that was it for us this year 🤣 The soap and water was a quick improvise as I could literally hear the sound, but I could not see where it was coming from. Of course, a dye that glows under UV light is the professional way to do it, and it would help in a very complex system. Thanks so much for all your support! 👍🏻😊

Hi mate, Another great video, Just wanted to say if you can replace that leaking pipe will keep the repair cost down, then I would take it to some one that has a A/C machine and Nitrogen gas. They should use the Nitrogen gas to test the pressure in the system, 10 bar for 10 min is what i do, If passed this, then vacuum test, the length of this will be how long the system has had no gas in it. If pass then refill will the correct amount of gas and UV oil, there should be sticker telling how much gas is need under the bonnet. You can check the pressure use your gap tool. Happy cool days 🥶

Thank you so much for this, this is really important information! 👍🏻 I really want to attempt to do this myself but I'm worried that I will mess it up. But I find it very interesting to learn about it! So I may have a go at it myself just for the sake of learning 😊 Thanks for all your support 👍🏻

@@lifeasusual I do like you enthusiasm about learning. The a weight of R134a Refrigerant you will need would be very expensive trying to it with them little bottles, has I think you will need a round 700g. To buy any larger a mount than the little bottles you will a certificate to buy and the A/C machines are not cheap to buy. Hope this helps, my friend.

Well done on the problem solving. You will probably have to reset the code after you do the gas refill. The car will throw the code when it senses low pressure to protect the compressor. The gas has oil in it to lubricate the compressor so no gas, no oil.
@lifeasusual
@lifeasusual Ай бұрын
Thank you!👍🏻 Luckily, it didn't throw any code or any warning light, the only issue is that I'm not getting any cold air coming out of the vents. But maybe I'll use the diagnostic tool to see if there's an error code that would come up, which isn't showing on the dashboard. 👍🏻 And if it does, then I would reset it. Thank you for reminding me about this because I didn't think about it.

In Australia These bottles cost as much as paying someone to do a regas

Here in the UK, they cost about £50-£70, it depends on the brand and where you buy them from

Cracking channel mate! Recent Sub from myself. I've hand it on good information tho that these DiY self fill kits are a load of gash. Whenever I've tried it's been in vane. Think it's a lot more technical than that though - to do with the gas/oil (lube) ratio being all thrown out as with a loss of pressure you never know if any of the oil is left and dosing with these kits can end up putting the ratios out which I've been told can cause further damage to maybe just a leak. Lots of mobile auto AC specialists about that don't charge the earth and can save all that gas being leaked that's not necessary.

Hi Lee, thanks for watching the video and for subscribing! 👋🏻😊 Yes you're right, to be honest this is the first time for me to have an AC issue, and I know nothing about it so I'm going to have to look into it further and if it's something I cannot fix then I'll have to call a specialist. But I would love to have a go at it myself and see if there's something I can learn from it. 😊 Keep in touch!

@@lifeasusual my comment was before I’d got to the part where you mentioned about buying the correct equipment to totally drain the system. I’m sure with a bit of research you’ll get on top of it as for a home gamer you’re on the ball mate. I’ll look forward to further vids on it bud as in the UK we get them crazy hot days now and then as you said and it’s no fun in a leather car. 🤣 My Discovery is black and gets soooo hot without air con running. 🥵🥵

Thanks so much Lee! I hope I can get the job done before the next heatwave comes in the UK, which might be soon!! 🥵 AC is definitely a must! Hope you have a great rest of the summer in your Discovery! 😃👍🏻

Hi John, thanks for this! 👍🏻 I ordered a part from Land Rover, it comes complete with everything else, I'm just waiting for that part and researching about the gassing to make sure, if I decided to do it, I do it legally. Or send it to a professional. And once it's complete, I'll make a video about it, which should be in a few days. Stay tuned!
