Ronnie ruled. One of the best voices in metal for sure. From Rainbow then Sabbath, to his solo career, his voice relentless.

I’m glad I saw Dio before he left. Whitesnake’s 2000s run is so under-appreciated.

Whitesnake's Live In The Still Of The Night, London 2004 is a phenomenal show. I bought the DVD years ago, but it's uploaded here on KZfaq. Watch it folks. Reb Beach and Doug Aldrich are an incredible duo 🎸 I also have the Evil or Divine show, that is incredible also. Two of my favourite shows this millennium.

I'm a DIo fanboy to the bitter end. Loved him since I was a kid. He's the greatest metal singer for me. But recent developments have shown Vivan Campbell was simply the first to tell the truth about Dio's other side. Vivan himself said that Dio loved his fans and would do anything for them. However, he did not always treat his bandmates with the respect and pay they deserved. He was greedy like Ozzy, KISS, etc, and didn't do the musicians that helped him create right very often. That's the hard truth about the man. He's complicated like we all are.

he was a dick some of the time for sure- that said, he was completely cognizant and you can't blame a woman for taking advantage of someone who essentially isn't at the steering wheel much of the time like you can with Sharon and Ozzy. Though I thought Wendy Dio's hologram idea was ridiculous as many do lol

Wendy and Ronnie screwed over Vivian Campbell. It wasn’t just Vivian. Doug’s a sweet heart.

I commissioned a painting of Dio as a saint. Like an Icon. He truly was a wonderful human being, and he still is

I saw Killig the Dragon when Dio came again to Utah with Scorpions and Deep Purple. That was an awesome bill!

I have another full live show of Dio from 2005 and he sounded amazing compared to the Holy Diver Live album. . Ronnie James Dio was indeed an extremely cool guy. The first time I saw him was the Angry Machines tour at 17 years old and it was incredible. Opened up with Evilution. One of the greatest singers ever to this day.

In this case it would have been responsible to clear with Ronnie if it was ok to commit with Whitesnake for the Summer so as not to conflict with Dio's schedule, understandable Ronnie was pissed.

"Holy Diver" and "Dream Evil" are among Dio's best work, but also "Strange Highways" and "Angry Machines" are great IMO. It was a bit of a disappointment for me that Dio suddenly returned to their '80s style' in the year 2000. Tracy G. left because he was offered to continue in the band together with Craig Goldy. I completely understand that Tracy G. did not want to do that. Goldy came back and Dio made "Magica", the most different Dio album ever. I like that, it's like one long song, but it's not very easy to listen to I must admit. "Killing the Dragon" is (probably) a successful attempt to return to the style Dio was known for. I don't care much for it. However "Master of the Moon" I think is awesome. It has those dark themes like the 90s albums also have 🙂

He should have told Dio he was asked to extend the WS tour before committing. Just courtesy.

Dio was awesome in concert during the SH,, run it was truly unbelievable. Alice Cooper opening for Judas priest, dual headliner,, anyway it was the best show ever ( red rocks ) after that gig Dio SH. The other Dio shows were good but nothing close to the magic of Sacred Heart tour. I agree Dio made a person feel he cared. Miss that Dude.

Aldrich is actually my second favorite Guitarist Dio (the band) ever had. Other than Vivian Campbell, I don't like anyone else better! Lion were a great band, as well as Bad Moon Rising (underrated af) though I haven't heard his solo stuff that people also rave about. For some reason though, I could never dig how he sounded in Whitesnake, but I don't know why since he's closest to Sykes who is one of my all time favorites, I'm weird lol. I guess I'll have to dig deeper and listen to Strange Highways again. I love Sacred Heart though i used to hate it. One album people should talk about more is the Heaven and Hell album, probably better than 13 (i never even listened to 13 all the way though). Magica i thought was cool and was a cool tour to see, which was the only Dio tour I saw other than seeing him with Heaven and Hell.

I don't know, man, I've never been a fan but when I saw Dio in "The Headbanger's Journey" I thought to myself "What an angry old dude..." He was all jealous about money and made those dumb jokes about Gene Simmons. One joke would be a joke but he just kept taking shit about Gene and how rich he is, money this, money that... meh, you don't have to be a certified psychologist to get the picture.
