Mighty nice of paul to send a birthday greeting to a man he fired more than once, made eric singer wear his gimmick and proceeded to insult and bash him in his books. I don't personally know Rod Stewart, and it's nice to see him acknowledging and singing to a fan who is severely struggling with cancer, but when people like him and Brian May (among many others in the rock music community) mock and ridicule everyday people and fans for disagreeing with their personal health choices, my level of respect and admiration plummets considerably.
