Living in Mexico on $130 Monthly Pension

Almost Retired in Mexico

Күн бұрын

Rennie gets $130 per month from her Canadian pension. There's not many places in Mexico where you could live on that amount of money. But with a few other hustles, you can put together enough income to live in Mexico.
Rennie lives in the Jardines Alcalde neighborhood of Guadalajara. A nice middle-class Mexican neighborhood. When she moved to Mexico, she wanted to live like a local, not a tourist. She definitely lives on a budget, but can afford so much more in Mexico than she could in Canada. She's almost retired, collecting rent and also teaching English classes.
You can check out her short term rental here: casarennie.com....

I was born in Jalisco but my parents brought me to the USA when I was 12 years old(I’m 39 yes old now) I never thought about moving back to Mexico but the cost of living in the USA is ridiculous. My wife and I are now looking to buy a property in Jalisco or Nayarit and live a more stress free life

Forced to retire early due an accident I could no ĺonger afford my house nor health care. As a native Californian, Mexico might have been the logical choice. However, I learned that France could be a good fit for me. I've lived on the Mediterranean since 2007 and love it more each day. If you follow your heart ❤ you will find where you belong. Best wishes.

@@hellooutthere8956 I'm sure requirements have changed over the last 16 years. Before moving, I came for six week with a rail pass and a backpack. I did research on the things that were important to me. I found a site online where you could ask questions and began communicating with someone who was very helpful. We became friends. I found a book that saved me A fortune. Basically I did my homework and I wouldn't change a thing. I wish you all the best. Viva la Belle France 🇫🇷.

As I am on a pretty dismal pension myself ($600 monthly) I was quite excited by the headline, "Living in Mexico on $130 Monthly pension". However, that is not the case. Rennie already owns a property in Mexico where she is presently living plus receives rental income from 2 self contained units. On top of this she teaches English online and also in person. Personally I feel the headline has skewered the truth. I feel suckered into watching a video which has dashed my dream of living in Mexico on a low pension.

I lived for 17 months in a neighborhood called Bangkapi in Bangkok with my Thai wife. We paid $130/month for a 2 bedroom condo with 24 security. Walking distance to a mall, two massive outdoor markets, and 4 grocery stores . We could buy the condo for around $30000. Mexico looks great but honestly I see videos and I think Southeast Asia is the best value🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes, the title is misleading and at 40 seconds I was going to respond; but then I thought I should see all of it first. That is what KZfaqrs do to get you to click. It is quite common. I live on $10 per month...........but then I have other income I did not reveal, Ha.
@grignongb5240
@grignongb5240 6 ай бұрын
The truth is somewhere in between. $130US/month is 2,200+ pesos/month or 26,500/ year. That is enough to easily cover the fixed expenses of utilities, taxes, transportation, et cetera that she listed in the video. It's doubtful her rental income is more than $130/month. Certainly the additional income allows her a significantly more free spending lifestyle.

I am sure this woman has led a fascinating life and has some great stories and she has been very industrious and smart in making her retirement work. It's somewhat misleading to say that she's living on $130 Canadian each month. She is renting part of her home and continues to work which brings in income. Not everyone is as smart and industrious as this woman or would be able to follow the same blueprint. She's also in relatively good health which works to her advantage. I think this plan could work for a subset of retirees though. Bravo to her for carving out an adventure for the next stage of her life!
