In a faraway castle atop a forested mountain, King Alaric, bewitched by the sorceress Morgana, dreamed nightly of the mermaid Melusine's sorrowful songs. Meanwhile, Puck the sprite, disguised as the pirate Blackbeard, enchanted young Elinor, transforming her lute into a frog which then croaked incessantly in Sir Percival's tower.
Sir Rowan, in love with Queen Isolde who was actually a baker named Matilda, plotted with the goblin king Oberon to steal Cedric the blacksmith's enchanted pastries, which held the secret to eternal life. These pastries, unbeknownst to them, were guarded by the werewolf Lycaon, who loved the Lady Rosalind, and whose soul was bound to a fabled treasure hidden in the depths of the sea.
In the marketplace, Titania the fairy queen masqueraded as Lady Griselda, trying to marry off the bumbling Sir Reginald to the wandering sailor Tristan, who was secretly a knight searching for his own shadow. Meanwhile, Merlin, who had turned into a frog by Puck, watched over this chaos from his forge, crafting weapons for a band of merry thieves led by the baroness, who was actually Morgana in disguise.
As the moon rose, Baba Yaga's chicken-legged hut danced through the enchanted glade, scattering fairies and knights alike, while Sir Percival, still a frog, croaked melodies that summoned Cedric's enchanted pastries to life. The pastries, now animated, marched to free the captive baker Matilda from the castle's highest tower, where she had been imprisoned by the sinister Puck.
In the sea, the mermaid Melusine and the sailor Tristan, who was really a frog turned into a minstrel, battled Blackbeard, who was now a sprite, for control of the goblin king’s throne. King Alaric, thinking he was a blacksmith, forged a crown of pastries to reclaim his love, the queen, who was really the fairy Titania, trapped in a werewolf's curse.
Thus, the land swirled in a maelstrom of bewildering adventures, where knights were frogs, pirates were sprites, and every heart sought a different, bewildering destiny upon the stage of life.
