as an old woodsman i would pass along a bit of advice to you on such remote cabins/ tents . if you want to leave gear stored there when you are gone use steel trash cans mice cannot eat into them. fill the can with your clothes /gear then leave an inch of space at the top cut a circle of heavy carboard and drop in on top of this add a layer of red cedar shavings ( often sold in pet stores to go inside rabbit cages) cedar is hated by all insects so no bug will enter the can.. finally give the top edge of the can a smear of petroleum jelly ( we call it Vaseline here in the states) and press the steel lid down tight. no mice will eat at your stuff and no bugs or poo in your gear. i have used this in remote camps and it has served me well. SAFE JOURNEYS to you !

I live in the wood and stored a honey bee wax emergency candle outside on my washer. The mice chewed through the box, ate the candle and made a nest with the wax! Where gloves, mask cleaning after varmints and even slugs so much disease!

A dog ( unlike mice ) is the perfect companion. They don't argue, they always listen, they help with chopping (chewing) wood and all that want is a walk, some grub and the occasional head scritch

Now in our 50s and having always enjoyed life in the outdoors, sea and nature. In our younger years we chose not to have children as we were wrapped up with the trappings of modern life. When we watch these videos it makes us doubt that decision. What an amazing young person with so much ability to appreciate life, nature and the simple things, just amazing and a breath a fresh air

Great to see you taking some time out just to reset yourself and be present. Looks such a simple lifestyle but it has its challenges as I’m sure you’re well aware of Becky. Being surrounded in nature, from seeing the flora and fauna come to life to going to sleep and waking up to the sounds of the birds, the woodlands and even the rain hitting off the tent is beautiful. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to while you’re at your base camp. 👍😊

I’m glad you’re back. Been following you since you were a young tike!! You’re an amazing young lady and watching you grow up and become a beautiful woman has me at awe. But your skills are much needed by many in learning the true path to nature’s gift 💝. I don’t like a lot of people on KZfaq but have my favorites and your one of them. Stay true and as genuine as possible. I share your insights to others so their children can learn from you, especially ladies and my daughter. Take your to time to find your true zen. It takes a lifetime to master but each level is a journey mastered and believe you have mastered a few. Ooh I have the same boots by vivo. Very comfortable pair. Got mine from fitforadventure she told me about when started her trekking days. Waiting to see what’s next?? SEMPER FI

"and this video's gonna be slightly different" Whoop!! Love that you're back where it all began! Beautiful English woodland, in the spring. Such a magical place. So... not different 😊 (but I see what your sayin ...100k+ subs on...) To have your expectation dashed by the mess must've been gutting, even tho you've got the right attitude, living alongside nature. Love this immersive experience - very happy to see it for a few months. If you could bear it, as you've come along way, it might be nice to review and compare your old camp vids, experiences and thoughts. This could be a thing - back to the woodland for spring, perhaps when the Bluebells shoot, to do it naturally.

Our first tent when I was a kid was a whitish canvas tent with no floor. Probably army surplus at it was the 60s. Thought it was a bit too rustic, so getting a tent with a floor when I was 9 or 10 was like luxury camping. I guess the old tent styles are coming back. They do weigh a ton though. Oh, and as dad used to say "Dont touch the walls!" (leaks appparently)

I loved seeing you back at your old camp. No better way than getting in touch with nature than when it overtakes your camp! I see someone else put up great advice on storing gear in that type of situation. I also heard you can buy rat bags. They are wire mesh and rodent proof apparently but guess slugs and spiders might still find a home in them 🤣🤣. Keep on keeping on Becky. Shinrin Yoku is also a good course, it’s a method of mindfulness and just being in nature which I think you’d enjoy. I did an online course with Centre of Excellence during lockdown. Best course ever… ATVB.

When the pandemic hit and like everyone I had to stay home most of the time, like many people I turned to KZfaq for escape, and watched a lot of so-called ASMR videos, including ones about camping, especially hot tent camping which for some reason really appealed to me. But the one thing I didn't like about many of them was that it was basically hike or drive into the woods, set up camp, camp for the night, then pack everything up and go back the next morning. Very few people actually stayed longer than that, which seemed like such a pity given all the effort it took to get there and set everything up. I got that people had jobs and lives to get back to, but still, I find that camping is most enjoyable when you're in the same location for more than the one night and use it as a base to explore the surrounding area, or to just slow down and relax and do absolutely nothing beyond that which is required. That's what I like about this video, that you set up a camp and you stay in it for a while. You get such a better connection to the land when you stay in one place for a while instead of an overnighter. It's like traveling, where you really do need to stay in a place for at least several days to get a decent sense of it. I hope you turn this into a series. And sorry about the mess that all those critters left but they've got their own lives to live and are clearly into the extended camp stay experience! ☺
