I'm going to pick up "ALONE IN THE DARK COLLECTOR'S EDITION" in the mail today. I am so proud of my son who has been involved in making this game. So it will be extra exciting and fun to play. love you my son.

I think this is the first time the in-game graphics have looked better than the cutscenes, very strange. Hope this game does well.

@@Garfunkels_Funky_Uncle There's been a lot of AA and AAA games the last 5 years that have high-fidelity models without high-level animation. Call of Cthulu being one example. It looks like they did the cutscenes last in this instance but got the gameplay animations done well first.

@@hosvet_animationI think "high fidelity" is a category error when talking about animation. Highly detailed? There's nothing to be faithful to. DOOM sprites are "high fidelity" whenever they are displayed in full resolution.

@@marshaul Highly detailed sounds like there's lots of small details on a model. When someone says overly detailed they mean there's too many overlapping design details on a character, or there's too many small details in the environment that makes it a mess. High Fidelity means a sound reproduction that's very close to the original, so although it's a sound design term it's more descriptive of realistic graphics. I don't want to just say realistic graphics because that term has been applied to graphics since the PS1 and has other baggage. You're thinking of High Resolution for DOOM sprites.

@@hosvet_animation No, I understand all the meanings. That's why I'm saying "fidelity" is the wrong way to describe what you're talking about. Talking about the fidelity of animations is a category error unless you're talking about a transmission medium for said animations. Which we aren't. By analogy, it's like describing a person singing as "high fidelity", as opposed to a recording of a person singing. The animations are the art itself. Not the transmission medium. "Fidelity" is a way to describe transmission or recording media, not art. Art is just art.

Glad to have bought this on Friday, one of the 5,000 Limited Editions going out to retailers (including the soundtrack CD). The team headed by Mikael Hedberg really nailed the atmosphere with this one. Whilst the combat and stealth isn't as involving (and heavily criticized by reviewers), I also think the marketing did a couple things wrong though. - At that entry level price, you're setting yourselves up to compete with triple-A games such as The Last Of Us - You also aren't encouraging newcomers to simply check this out at that entry level - By promoting the game as "survival horror", you give a wrong impression of what the game is actually like... like the original being more focused on exploration and puzzling and detective work, unlike any Resident Evil game. This needed to have the kind of handling where you realize: Okay, this is a comparably niche IP after twenty years and Uwe Boll and the last success being "A New Nightmare". It's also not your typical blockbusting action horror game full of jumpscares and rocket launchers. Hope it still works out, because the game has a few really neat touches. It's also the ONLY sequel since that goes some for the mood and period piece of the original game some -- and this includes the already far more action packed sequels of the original trilogy.

Love it, have played through all 5 endings at this point. Wonderful game, and I hope there will be a sequel. This is my game of the year very likely.

super excited to finally get my hands on this game! Screw the mixed reviews, so long as I've got a game with a great (or interesting) story with atmosphere, puzzles, and some (survival horror) action, then, I'm all in! (now, maybe a Remastered port of The New Nightmare😃)?

So, we can expect... * Machine guns and explosions, just like in AITD2 and AITF6. * Loads of characters, dialogue and action, just like in AITD5. * Gameplay ripped off from (ironically) Resident Evil, just like in AITD4. * Some obnoxious kid, just like AITD2. ...and the car seen briefly in the intro and outro of the first game.

I'm playing this on the minimum requirement PC (actually started on Friday): Ryzen 3 3100, GTX 1050ti (a video card from 2016). On medium details plus anti-aliasing on high it's damn fine, mostly over 50fps.

Hey THQ- your entire game is broken. I am about 2 hours in and the audio stopped working. I tried deleting the game and redownloading, starting a new game- nothing. THE ENTIRE GAME IS LITTERALLY BROKEN. FIX THE GAME- $60 FOR A BROKEN GAME IS ROBBERY.

Was really looking forward playing this horror game, however the game does not have feature full key rebinding, I usually prefer to use the Arrow Keys and numpad keys when playing this games. tried reconfiguring the controls and the results was terrible.... Barely functional when you tried play the game through arrow key controls. Why is it developers are lazy nowadays and assume everyone in the world are using the WASD controls?! Even the Resident Evil Games has decent key rebinding options. I was going to rate this game 10/10 but since I'm unable to configure the controls to my liking, gonna give it a 0/10 and try to refund the game if at all possible. no wonder this game got negative reviews everywhere. At least on Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare I'm allowed to use the arrow keys and make customs changes to my prefer keybinding controls?! Such a shame!? what a disappointment!

What a wonderful game well done and a good start for a potential for a kick start to this franchise shour. It's got its falts and missed potential, but that's when it can be made better, so dont kick ya selves. In my opinion, you did a wonderful job. Hopefully, we will see more.
