A cash tip in Japan: the best atms to use are in convenience stores. They tend to work with all international cards. There's even a 7-11 branded ATM at Narita Airport that I've used multiple times. Other ATMs don't seem to work with international, or at least US cards, pretty often.

@JoJosWorld It looks like you have an iPhone. You can get a Suica card in apple wallet that lets you pay for the Subway with just tap and you can reload the card directly from your phone when you run out of funds. That’s what I did when I was in Japan last year and didn’t have to bother with those machines.

BTW, Uber only runs in Japan in collaboration with established taxi companies, so rather than waiting for an "Uber taxi," you might as well just hail a cab on the street. The cost is the same, or similar. A lot of cabs are on the S-RIDE network, too, where with an app (available in English) you can reserve a cab to pick you up at a specific time and place--just like an Uber!

Always remember to call your card issuer to let them know you’re traveling so they don’t think it’s fraud. I think the bar crawl was a great idea. It looks like so much fun.

Next time ATMs at 7-11's or convenient stores are best to get cash, you can get a physical suica card or digital one on iphone so you dont have to worry about buying tickets at train stations each time and wont need cash for it.. and for phone service look into getting an esim or pocket wifi so you will have service at all times everywhere i saw you had issues with service in Tokyo Disneysea.. but love the Tokyo content and that you go out of your comfort zone to experience new things

Uniqlo is more common in Japan, because it's literally a Japanese company :) Also, solo travelling can be more rewarding than any other type of travel. You have the chance to take things in more and make new friends! Well done for making the most of your solo evening!

I learned quickly the first time that I went to Japan, that despite all of the technology, and cool stuff that it is still a very largely cash based culture still. Always have plenty of cash on hand while there. I had enough, but my travel partner did not. If you are away from the bigger areas it will be tough to use anything other than cash.

Paging Mr. Morrow has a really cool vlog of his trip to Tokyo. He went to a few of those tiny back alley bars with his friends. They were actually interesting. Really cool. You should check it out if you go again. Its cool that you did somrthing completely different. I love it

Going on first ever solo trip to Japan for 3 months in September. Im so scared ill end up with not making new friends. Im very outgoing and love hitting a bar yet im so scared ill never see them again. Your video really made feel somewhat releaved.

I'm just watching the beginning of this video and I think the reason why your card was declined, is because the card issuing company, thinks someone else is using your credit card because, they noticed it is being used in JAPAN. BEFORE traveling, (especially in other countries) YOU NEED TO CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND TELL THEM YOUR IN JAPAN from this date to this date. Then they will not think someone stole your CC # and is using it.

Lol, being alone with a camera in Japan and attracting attention shouldn't alarm you at all. Tokyo is super, super safe and no one would bother you. Maybe you're just too used to the U.S.! Great video, JoJo.

Usually most credit card companies monitor cards if your card is being used in a different country, you have to contact the card company before hand so they know it’s not a fraud 😊

Why aren't you getting yen before traveling to japan? Most banks offer it online. And or get a suica card at the airport or most machines at the station.
