The Holy Spirit is the comforter. Standing on top of the hill looking down at Jerusalem, the disciples begged Jesus not to go down. "They're going to kill you," they said (as if he didn't already know). He informed them they were correct, but if he didn't go down, and be killed, the comforter would not come. This is because the Holy Spirit would only dwell within us once our sins were cleansed away. Prior to that, it dwelt in the Holy of Holies at the Temple in Jerusalem, and at the Tabernacle before that. Isn't it fascinating? It's no wonder the disciples all died, to a man, without ever a single one having denounced Christ. It's hard to even imagine the horrible deaths they all faced. Think about that. But then consider: they had spent their entire lives never having felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. And then after witnessing all those miracles and the death and resurrection of their beloved Jesus, they got BLASTED with wracking waves of Holy Spirit energy. It's no wonder they refused to denounce him!! And now, the fact that they didn't is by far our strongest historical evidence of the absolute Truth of the Gospel. Hallelujah!

@@Digitalsapien Often overlooked truth. People die only for core convictions, not intellectual assent. People continue around the world to die for the Beloved Lord Jesus - about 350 of them are under persecution now. Why not renounce and save yourself? Because 1) You cannot save yourself and 2) because of such great love from God's Son and savior.

Hi Ann. Thank you for sharing what you did. I agree that life is cruel and beautiful. A line from a song I like says ''life is just a series of goodbyes''. That is true. But, as believers in Christ, we have hope that there is a series of 'hellos!' coming up and that the painful goodbyes will be no more. I also battle depression due to peri-menopause, have no intimate partner and no local friends after a move across the country before losing my dad to cancer who was all the family I had in this world, a breakup, the pandemic and then another breakup but that one was much harder to cope with as I'd hoped to spend my life with that person and learned I was just viewed as an experiment, a toy, while he tried to figure himself out. Life is full of tragedy. When nothing makes sense, I remember Jesus. He's always been my constant from the time I was young and still is. It's His grace, mercy and kindness that show up for me daily even in the storms of confusions. I'd love to offer you prayer and a friend. Feel free to message me back and perhaps we can chat if you would like. There is power in togetherness. (I'm a 44 year old female and I also enjoy writing, as you do.)

Some days I am very quiet and try and calm my anxious thoughts in today's evil world. I try and leave everything in God's hands which is what we are supposed to be doing. Hello @anngordon2918. Somehow, I ended up in this video and reading your comment. As I was reading, I was thinking about Moses. The Lord called him only at his 80s. I also remembered the example of George Muller, whom the Lord also asked around his 80s or 90s to pray even more. The Lord doesn't look at age, but at the disposal of hearts. The Lord doesn't make any mistakes. If you still have his breath of life, please use it for His glory. It's never too late to serve Him. We never retire. :) May the Lord reveal himself more than ever to you and comfort your heart. (sorry for the mistakes)

No need to plead. When one earnestly confesses to sin (Romans 10:9-10) and to Jesus as his/her crucified and risen savior (I Corinthians 15:1-4) the Holy spirit of God cleanses you (Titus 3:5-6) and takes up residence in you forever! Praise Him!

Blood coming from his body, NAKED, hanging on that cross like Roman torture weapon! What a Lord God and Savior! He had to. HE is God the Son. Only His sinless blood could pay our sins price.1 John 2:1-2. The Savior was born to die for our sins so we could live through Him. The Birth of Jesus Christ Isaiah 7: 14: "Therefore the LORD shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and call His name Immanuel." Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, "God with us" in human flesh but without sin. The Savior of the world was born to die for our sins! He did so 33 years later. Jesus died and paid the penalty for our sins to rescue us from eternal death. He died on our behalf. We believe in Him, trusting His death and shedding of His blood as payment for ALL our sins and His burial and resurrection from the dead the third day! John 20:24-31; 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4 above. WHOSOEVER BELIEVES SHALL TESTIFY TO THE TRUTH Romans 10: 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” TO DIE IS TO REJECT SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST AND BE SEPARATE FROM GOD FOREVERMORE Salvation and forgiveness of sins is the blessing of anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
