Two-time F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso has signed a new contract that will see him racing with Aston Martin at least until the end of 2026. But what does this mean for Aston's ambitions? What has been promised to Fernando to keep him at the team? And how will this affect the rest of the driver market, now that another 2025 seat has been filled? Bryn Lucas is joined by Haydn Cobb to discuss this latest silly season news.

I love Fernando, but FIA (and Michelin) was more responsible for Renault and Alonso winning the championship that year. The regulation tweaks for 2005, utterly destroyed Bridgestone and by extension Ferrari.
@roberthak3695
@roberthak3695 Ай бұрын
@@divinitygaming8673 Regulation changes in the beginning of the year are normal. Just like those that favored Mercedes engine wise, or those that are favoring RB aerowise. Michelin tyres were better in most circumstances so they had an edge. What you DONT remember is how the FIA changed the regulations in the middle of 2006 by calling the mass damper "ILLEGAL", while previously they said it was allowed. Why? Because Renault had the better more developed mass damper and that made the car excellent in taking corners. The other thing you FORGET, it that the Renault was never a dominant car, like HAM's Mercedes or VER RB were/are.

My take on it is Lance actually might be the right teammate for Fernando because it’s not a teammate that’s going to make him feel threatened and Lance genuinely seems to be learning from Fernando. He’s raced a lot cleaner since having him as a teammate so I’ve seen growth from Lance as a result of Fernando being there. The growth has been slow and yes Lance is not finishing super high but I have seen a lot of improvements from him with Fernando there as his teammate. I think having Lance as a team meet someone that’s not a threat and that actually does take his guidance by the looks of things makes Fernando feel safe at that team, not to mention last year on the radio he was telling them to suggest his break balances for lance, and after that, Lance seem to be improving in that race so I think for Amanda is liking being able to mentor and help guide Lance Well also being in a good car, able to score points and run his race without having to worry about his teammate, playing bumper cars with him.

Not sure how Lance Stroll is a negative for Alonso’s stand point. Alonso is always gonna be the star, and the team get’s extra resource time because the TEAM underperforms. Rules as stands, best team get’s least tunnel time and all that, which only makes REPEATING harder. Alonso can suck up to Lawrence by saying Lance is a budding star and everything is fine

Maybe finally Lance can get out of his dads grip and they'll have to take Carlos so this driver swing can be put to a hold😊

Alonso and Honda again?? I thought I'd never see it. I assumed Honda wouldn't work with Alonso anymore and therefore he would leave to Mercedes for next year and '26.

Great news but Aston Martin needs a decent second driver I know that daddy owes the company but surely they have shareholders who surely have a say in the prospect of Aston Martin unfortunately Lance needs to go
