On Sept 6 2023 Dr Donovan hosted a public webinar as part of Alopecia Areata Awareness Month. This video addresses 13 questions pertaining to alopecia areata. Questions are shown below with time stamps.

Question 6 (starts at 21:18): My son is 3 years old and Alopecia. 1 year ago, hair loss started and his hair and eyebrows completely fell out. In the tests , it was determined that his intestinal flora was very disordered and he has lactose and gluten intolerance. There are some doctors who have found that Intestinal Flora Disorder and Leaky Gut Syndrome can cause some autoimmune diseases. I would like to know your thoughts on this subject.
Question 7 (starts at 28:42): Should I ask for a biopsy to prove the diagnosis of alopecia areata?
Question 8 (starts at 30:58): I am a 37 year old female and have alopecia areata. Will I pass this on to my children?

Thank you for labeling it Alopecia Areata awareness month. When people just call it Alopecia Awareness Month - it appears that it's all types of hair loss. August is Hair Loss(Alopecia) Awareness month - but alopecia simply means hair loss. It's a bit confusing. Great job as always, Dr. Donovan.

Thank you for your work! I had Alopecia Areata in childhood. At middle age, I now have Lupus and a different type of hair loss came with it. I was wondering if you see people with childhood Alopecia Aereata go onto later have SLE?

Hello dr. Donovan ,how do I deal with this condition where by my hair grows like that of a toddler since I was young upto now in my mid 20s..... kindly help me especially a patch at the back of my head... Otherwise thanks for the information ❤
