I have alopecia on the sides and I am truly self conscious your care for her hair is truly commendable. I keep telling people we are not our medical diagnosis - this is gorgeous

I have NEVER seen so many people with alopecia before in my life. Something is going on here. Why is it just hsppening to us?????

I noticed it started happening in the 90s when everyday people started using hair glue along with relaxers. The follicles were damaged beyond repair. A lot of the women I see are from that era. Younger women I noticed it caused by gluing down wigs. Of course braiding plays a role. At one time lace wigs were most worn by actors, celebrities, rich people. Once they become affordable the people started wearing them by the masses then the hair loss came. A lot of things go into causing alopecia. I’m battling it now from stress. I stayed away from glue because I saw what it did to my mothers hair. Most of the hair loss I see on alopecia on KZfaq is from hair styling. This is just my take.

I think it’s a combination of what we consume (foods) and our environment. We’ve always known some medications can have an effect on your hair, but like you said you people with alopecia everywhere.

As I’ve learned, there are different types of alopecia, some completely avoidable and others not, but can possibly be helped. A woman I know ( in her mid 60’s), developed alopecia because of medications she had to take after an operation. Up until then, her entire head was full of hair. Prayer and a healthy, clean diet is restoring her hair! 🙌🏾

She had sister locks for years. She thinks she got them tighten too often.

Very pretty style. I would love to have seen how the hair fell in the front of her face and covered the sides. That's where I have my thinning.

It’s all the dangerous chemicals used in perming the hair. It’s a contributor factor in alopecia.
