Alotau, Papua New Guinea was our first port of call on our recent PNG Encounter trip with P&O from Brisbane.
We booked our tour independently with See Alotau with Ben, a well respected and much promoted local tour operator (link below and tour details on our website).
We booked a half day morning tour, because we are always nervous booking local tours in places we are not familiar with if they are ending too close to ship departure time. As it turns out we had nothing to worry about. Despite a dull and rainy day we had a fantastic tour that was definitely worth the money.

I am so looking forward to this cruise in October. My Grandfather was stationed in Alotau in WW2. He helped build the runway and some of the roads.

Ho Wayne. Wow, it will be so emotional to visit that place which your grandfather helped build. Not much of the runway left after the eruption but some of the roads are still there. Have a fantastic cruise mate.

Thank you to you both beautiful people. I am a Papua New Guinean but from another province. Tourism in PNG is still small industry but with your honest comments and views it certainly helps build the industry for the better. Orait gutpla tru wantoks.

Thank you for your fair and honest feedback on your visit to Alotau and to the mainland coastal highway and visit to Daduwe village checking out Dickson's dragon fruits and farm. I didn't go on a tour this cruise but I did go with Ben's tour when I was there in November. This video makes me want to go back and I'll definitely do this tour. We also visited the village and had the same local lady doing the demonstration. She's hilarious heckling the same guy making 🔥❤

The tree bears fruit called soursop (annona muricata-scientific name). The leaves are used medicinally. Brewed as tea.
