They are SUCH nice dream animals they're so sweet and quiet and calming. We felt so lucky to have them this year while the whole world was on literal fire we could head out back and just be around their calm and quiet selves and it was AWESOME!

@@OldReddingFarm Agreed. Alpacas very meditative just to watch them, also very communicative. I am still drooling about my own ones, but for now I am buying and processing the fiber by hand, having a lot of fun, including final handspining (without spindle) and knitting hats, mittens, scarves. the guy that we used was recommended to us by the person we purchased the alpacas from which would work if you get yours locally. If not there are usually facebook groups with lots of good information, we are in CT so on top of "Alpaca everything" we are in "alpaca owners of CT" so we can swap local info like shearers, fiber mills, sales on feed / hay availability etc for things super local to us vs nation / world wide like in "alpaca everything"

I do think they would nibble on the branches. If the trees are young the other thing that I know would happen is the alpacas will walk over the trees and bend them over and use them to scratch their bellies. At least thats what our ladies do with the few young trees we have in their pasture.

I've heard of a lot of people adding beet pulp shreds to the menu to help alpacas put on weight. We haven't had to do that but might be worth looking into. Glad you tested for worms. Good luck!

Yes ! I wish goats had a more similar diet and parasite load to alpacas so we could keep both safely
