I'm 59, and I used to have some hyperpigmentation on my face, but after using vit C in the a.m. and retinol/bakuchiol in p.m for years, it has all faded to almost nothing. I learn something new in every video ...thanks!!

I recommend The Ordinary 100% squalane. I have unbelievable dry skin, hair, eyes, mouth from health issues & medications. I couldn’t wear makeup for years because of dry skin just made it look horrible & made me feel terrible about myself. I use the squalene, a face oil, & a moisturizer. I don’t always wear all 3 morning & night, but a lot of the time I do because the dryness is so bad. I also use The Ordinary’s Amino Acids serum. I’m not sure if I’ll continue with the Amino one or not, & I’m definitely going to have to get a new face moisturizer because Walmart Equate brand stopped making mine. I will likely try The Ordinary’s lotion first or another brand’s lotion that has urea. I’m new to skincare & still figuring things out, but if I could only use a cleanser & 1 product for life, it would be that squalene serum, which is around $10. Most of the original products are around $10, but the newer product launches are around $20 so they’re still affordable. I’m also looking at some products from Good Molecules & The Inkey List & affordable Korean skincare.

Hi Dr, thank you for this video. I am wondering if you can advice. I use tretinoin twice a week during pm, alpha arbutin daily am + pm (for existing pigmentation). Can I still introduce vitamin C into my tretinoin and alpha arbutin routine? Won't it make my skin too painful? Thanks for your kind advice.

Thanks for your question. One way to mitigate around the issues that may arise with these 3 products is to introduce the vitamin c serum slowly into this routine and work with a lower strength and gradually go higher. 10% L ascorbic acid seems to be a sweet spot for some. Also pay attention to how your skin reacts to it along the way, especially if your trying to work the tretinoin into a daily routine, you may or may not need to discontinue it depending on your individual tolerance. I hope this helps!

@@ArsalanAspires Thank you Dr! Does it mean that I am able to layer vit C with AA and Tretinoin? As in, I apply my moisturising toner then AA, let it dry and then apply vit C, then face cream and finish off with a thin layer of tretinoin? That sounds so scary but alright, I may explore this. So far am enjoying the AA very much.

I am very much struggling with hyperpigmentation. I'm south east asian, and my skin is naturally light but it tans very easily. Worse still is very prone to hyperpigmentation. It's evidenced in my rear areas (i.e. areas where sweat accumulates and unintentional friction/chaffing, such as the neck and inner thighs). I'm very much hoping alpha arbutin would help solve this long time problem I've been having. On a side note, would it be effective (or recommended) to use diluted lemon juice as opposed to a Vitamin C serum?

I bought bearberry herbal supplement from Florida herbal pharmacy on Amazon . Bearberry has natural hydroquinone. I put it on my face and also started using sunscreen and kiehls dark spot corrective serum . Well, after 6 month my face now has many spots what have cleared but at this rate , it will probably take 2 years to clear up completely lol

I mean first wash with cleanser then i always apply The ordinary Ascorbyl glucoside 12% and after 1 or 2 minutes then i apply The ordinary Alpha Arbutin then after 1or 2 minutes i apply cerave moisturiser and then i apply the beauty of joseon sun screen and then finish.
