Range trip to check velocity with my 6.5 Creedmoor loaded up in Alpha brass. I share my thoughts on the magnetospeed chronograph.

A magnetospeed with bluetooth and an app to log that data, as well as load data and photos of you target, would be awesome. Though I got my V3 for half off, so I probably won't ever upgrade.

Like the blue tooth idea my pro chrono has that feature I enter my dope on my phone before I shoot and I'm done. The V3 I'm writing it all in my notebook as I shoot, and before I go to the next string, or next rifle. And the digital link let's you enter all your dope before you shoot, gives much more info.

Thanks Logan. I have really had a lot of success with Alpha Ocd 6.5CM SRP brass. It always comes to me clean and flawless. I particularly like that it comes in a proper partitioned box and that's more than I can about the "king of the hill" gold standard brass company🤫. I check and inventory each Alpha case and they are so consistent that I can't weight sort them. And the concentricity of the necks are usually 0.001 across the whole lot. When I turn the necks they seldom have any high spots. The overall length has easily been 0.001in across the lot. That's pretty damn good and I'd rather pay money to the UT economy than Finland. And I think Alpha brass is better anyway. Up there with Peterson brass. Alpha isn't free but you get what you pay for...

I love my Arken EP scope. It's $1,000 scope for 500 bucks. Thanks for the great video. I'm a bit envious to you for the wide open shooting spaces that you seem to have 😁

I picked up some Alpha after your first video. Seems like really good stuff. I didn't prep it other than chamfering the necks. I was able to shoot some pretty good groups out of my Sauer 100 with just some random loads.

Yeah these all shot well. Speeds are a little strange though

@@WestDesertShooter yeah, maybe a little tweak on powder charge will help you out with that.

Check out the Magnetospeed XFR which while not BT, will allow you to export to your phone and name/label your strings. You can also export via email then as well.

It happens. It is unfurled brass so maybe now they will be more uniform

I keep a range log and document what string relates to my test loads. Pull the SD card and upload the data file to a PC. From there you can do anything you want with it in Excel or Google Sheets.

That’s good, definitely what they had in mind. I just wish I didn’t need the computer and spreadsheet. I’ll test multiple rifles and multiple loads each

I got myself a book as I was leaving bits of paper all around the house :) I write down all shots from magnetospeed as a back up. You can also load the CSV file into Gordons Reloading Tool and it will draw a chart for you .

I'd like to see the BT capability interface with Strelok and other ballistic apps. Also, what barrel does UP use on their upper and is it possible to order another mfr barrel (i.e. Krieger) and have it installed @ U.P.? Thanks

I use a pen or pencil to keep track of my groups and velocities. I guess that's kind of a foreign thing to kids these days though.

I shot alpha for the first time I normally shoot Peterson 6.5 creedmoor 43gns h435 147 hornady and I get 2715 rock solid and accurate but yesterday with everything the same the alpha brass was 45 fps slower don't know why yet

What’s a good press to learn on for a beginner?
@rdsii64
@rdsii64 2 жыл бұрын
@@markx9288 Any single stage press is good to learn on. Which one depends on your budget. You can get a Lee single stage kit for less than $400.00. On the other end you can get and Area 419 Turret press for a $1200. Hornady, Lyman, RCBS, Forster, Redding, and Frankdford are between those extremes. If you intended to load pistol ammo you are going to want to upgrade to a progressive press after you get your feet wet. Progressive presses another discussion all together.

I started with the Lee kit. The Hornady kit or rcbs is another great learning kit. I currently use the Mec Marksman single stage

@@markx9288 Lee is good enough. I get good SD below 4 using a Lee so it can't be that bad. Not as well machined as a rcbs etc but if it makes concentric ammo. Who cares? I'm shooting quarter moa with me 7mm SAUM with me Lee set up. Only thing I would say is QC is not so good with Lee. I had to send one back. I had the breech lock cast iron press
