Good morning everyone. I hope your weekend treated you well, and the new week treats you even better. Today I shave off the beard that's been doing nothing but irritating my skin further. I do that with the Alpha Outlaw in Aluminum (Shave Dad edition) and some CC2 Spiced Orange & Bay Leaf shaving soap. What a relieving shave this was despite the tuggy first pass! Just to confirm, I will be doing a giveaway as soon as we hit 100 subscribers. To enter the giveaway, just comment #KEEPITCLASSIC in the comments section of this video.

Great shave. Sorry, but I have to correct this common misunderstanding made by quite a few users/YT'ers.🙃 The razor is called: the Alpha Shave Dad razor / Shave Dad Alpha razor. The Outlaw razors have a competely different geometry on the base-plate. I know it's a small thing for some people, but we we don't call an F-16 Viper an F-22 Raptor even though they are both fighter jets designed by the same company. Have a great week! 🤜💥🤛

Thanks for the correction sig! I may have misunderstood it from the beginning! My initial understanding was that it was the Outlaw, but the milling process was simplified and done in aluminum. I stand corrected and am happy about it!

Nice shave and glad that your skin feels better again brother! It's nice to identify what we like and what we don't like so much. It's also great that we have so much choice in this hobby. Good luck to everyone participating! Cheers!

Thanks! My skin feels so much better these days. Changing from a full 3 pass shave 3 days a week, to a 2 pass shave everyday has made a world of difference. I’m not certain what it was about the shave dad razor that didn’t agree with me, but I know lots of people seem to love it and I can tell it’s made incredibly well. Whoever wins it will most likely love it!

@@ColletteClassic we shouldn't have to like everything out there. It's ok to have a razor or soap that you don't get along with.

Tugging probably due to long hairs on first pass. Steve will be making an open comb plate soon. That should solve that issue. A very nice razor, I my opinion.

That lines up with where I started thinking out loud in the video. I would normally use either the R41 or the Parker Variant OC for this many days growth. It was worth a shot, and thank gosh I got it all off now! My skin needed it gone! Whoever ends up winning the giveaway will hopefully either not need the open comb, or will know about it and go get it. Thanks for tuning in!

My first shave with the Shave Dad Alpha went great, with a 2nd use PermaSharp, on 7 days' growth. On Sunday, I did another shave with the razor and same blade on 9 days' growth and I sliced myself up pretty good. One pass and I was done. Initially, I thought that it was because of the razor/blade combination as the razor is more aggressive than my others with its 0.70 blade gap... but that obviously wasn't the case, as I had forgotten that I had used the combo prior. It was just the blade was dead, as it was the third 7+ day shave that I was putting it through.

Wow! That’s a lot of hair to take off with that thing! I wish my experience with it had gone that smoothly. It didn't seem to make a difference which blade I used, but I will say that it was shaving pretty dang smooth on 1 day of growth. It was chewing me up, but it was effortlessly chewing me up xD The good news is, someone else will get the chance to try, and I still have way too many razors anyways! Thank you for reporting in so other people know they can get through a lot of growth with this razor!

@@ColletteClassic the Alpha is the razor with the widest blade gap, unless I use Plate 4+ with my 6C or 6S... and probably the Vector... so it has the room for more hair to get in. I got a few cuts with the Vector and my face was beet red from irritation immediately... but it was also my first time using it AND a KAI Captain.

That sucks that the razor didn't work out for you. I know you were so excited for it to be a great shave. It would be great to figure out if it might be the combination of blade gap and blade exposure that doesn't agree with your hair type? And it can't be the soap since you've had great shaves before with other razors and the same soap base. I'm probably over analyzing things and just chock it up to the fact that not all razors will agree with you. There's always the dependable R41 though! Thanks again Jake and thanks Alison for the kind gesture. I purposely waited till late afternoon for a shave knowing the package would arrive today. I'm slowly coming around on the aluminum razors. My preferences still lean toward titanium, but I can appreciate the existence of aluminum as an affordable option for the market. I say that when I shaved with a $100 aluminum razor 🤣 The no beard stance is also why I shave. You sleep on it, maybe it rubs against your shirt collar and then the irritation starts. And food particles and smells getting trapped in it that I would smell throughout the day, even if I soap it. My nose is very sensitive and the only time I had a beard was when I still smoked, since it deadened my sense of smell. The new gray hairs also 😅 I'll try my luck with a copy and paste #KEEPITCLASSIC and hope the winner will be able to get an irritation-free shave. On a side note, Timeless has a ten percent sale for the 4th of July. Maybe that titanium .95 oc razor has your name on it? 😆

Like we've said all along, your mileage may vary. It's probably a razor that works amazingly for most people, but some people just won't get along with it for some reason. This is one of those times. It's ok because I still KNOW that it's a good razor, and if I only had one razor, then I'd keep it and find a way to make it work. I don't have only one razor though, so there's no need to force the issue. I'll let someone else get the chance to try! I'm glad to hear that you're coming around on aluminum. It's still a cheap and soft metal, but like you said, it offers the chance for more people to try these ultra precise CNC machined razors that they otherwise wouldn't get to try. Like we've discussed before too, the weight is something you just get used to, which as someone who uses Ti razors a lot, you know that's true. That aluminum razor you were talking about certainly did look nice when I looked it up, but $100 for aluminum... I just couldn't do it xD I'm sorry to hear you have the same beard issues as me. It makes the skin care all the more important, and if anything it's easier to just shave it all off, then use a couple splashes/lotions. The days of washing, trimming, oiling, balming, and then constantly wiping sauce out of the beard are done for me! Good luck to you with the giveaway, and I'll see what kind of strings I can pull to make the Ti .95 happen xD Thanks again!

Maybe try just a single pass WTG until you're cleared up.

Thanks Brian. It’s been a tough battle for sure. Big gains were made when I stopped going against the grain on the neck. I haven’t seen any noticeable difference between just one or two with the grain passes on the neck though. Maybe it’ll just take more time

I am into it, just as a daily shaver, not to take off multiple days of beard! Also, I have so many other razors that I simply enjoy more, so it’s totally fine! YMMV like you said, and I wish you luck in the giveaway. Thanks for watching!
