I think "grounding" is really the keyword here. Even if OpenAI is currently beating Google in the gen AI space, Google still has the upper hand (by far) when it comes to indexing and thus retrieving web content.

Yeah, Google is winning the web search engine competition. But the lead in AI capabilities belongs to OpenAI. Google and Microsoft in second place. People have their preferences some like OpenAI others like Bing and Gemini or Grok
