Following up from Alpina’s ultra-rare 14-piece limited edition which housed a genuine 1930s hand-wound movement, the Alpiner Heritage Carrée Automatic 140 Years thankfully celebrates the Swiss brand’s anniversary with a more accessible approach to those same Art Deco vintage roots. A squarer, more playful alternative to the usual 20s and 30s superstars like the Cartier Tank and Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, Alpina’s take on the style oozes aesthetic charm and, despite being backed by an in-house automatic movement, offers that charm at a price tag that’s nothing if not competitive.
