The day after getting out of the Bugaboos I get a text asking if I wanted to do Sir Don. Even Without rest I jumped on the opportunity to climb this classic ridge.

Really nice video, don't forget knots in your rope on rappel. I know someone who was on the mountain when someone went off the end of their rappel to their death

Was up there at base camp with my buds in 1985...just as one of the longest dry spells in the Canadian Rockies came to an end. Left the car in steady rain. Discovered it rains a lot in the area. Rained for an hour on hike in. Then it poured. Arrived base camp in sideways wind-driven rain. Set up tent in miserable conditions. Everything wet. Rained off-and-on all night. Next days was ping-pong-ball foggy/drizzly at dawn. We slept in. Smarter climbers would have said F-it and gone to town for pizza. Not us. We were already there in position, with time and effort invested: classic sunk-cost fallacy. We stayed in that miserable camp two more nights hoping the weather would break. Never saw the mountain on this trip. Needless to say by the third morning we were in a foul mood and called it. Still gnaws at me. You're climb was beautiful! Thanks for posting (and arousing my envy!)

Hey nice work! Im thinking about climbing sir don this weekend. Im curious about your S ridge decent do you have any more info on that and how you linked it back to the NW ridge? Thanks!

So the rogers pass guide book gives a great description. But pretty much you go down the S ridge for 70m and follow the scree face “bypass” back to the ridge. It wasn’t to sketchy. This saved us a lot of time.

Is a 50 meter rope good for this?

If you wanted to rappel I think I would just work. But it would be close. I’d bring a 60.
