You do not have to remove the switch from the board. Just get the lamp diffuser out of the way, pull the fuse closest to the ALP switch (grey box), bend the fuse holder away from the switch, loosen the 2 brass nuts with a long needle nose, slide the switch off, pop it open, file or sandpaper the 2 contacts, and put it back together. I've done hundreds this way. NO soldering required. It takes less than 10 minutes.

Might want to replace that snubber cap on the switch. The fact that there was so much arcing may mean that the snubber cap is bad or not soldered correctly.

Hi, i have the "direct" button, on my 90's Pioneer a777 series, that have bad and intermittent contact, i possible open It to repair the button? Or must be replaced? I dont know if find this to buy today🤔

I am not sure about your Pioneer as I've never worked on one. Possibly you could find a switch on eBay?

Can I not just place a new power switch on the side bottom or top or back and bypass this piece which will only fail again?

I have a Sansui receiver that has a power switch combined with the speaker selector. Afraid that it may fail so I leave at ON position and use an external power switch to control the power supply.

Yes, that's a good idea. The switch has a pretty good chance of failing at some point.

Hi Chris, I keep meaning to mention this to you and you may have already seen it by now? Anyway Xraytonyb did a two part series on Capacitors. He was kind of in the middle as to how important it is to replace Capacitors. Yes he knows capacitors do go bad and they do need to be replaced, but did a great job in testing capacitors in every way possible so that everyone could see the importance of replacing them and why. Just thought that I would pass this along because it backs up what you always talk about with the facts as to why. I'm sending Part 2. Hey Bob, Thanks for sharing the information. I'll check it out. As I've mentioned in some of my video's the manufactures of capacitors like Nichicon, Panasonic etc. all have of their capacitor data online. These are the folks that design, validate, and manufacture these components. Who knows how their products work, better then they do? They state that ALL electrolytic capacitors will fail over time. As soon as they were produced the clock started clicking. If you not going to believe the real experts then that's up to each individual person. Year's ago there was no way to find out fact from fiction. With the internet now there is. You don't have to listen to the bar room BS in internet forums or video's.....Unless you want too.

He does anybody know where I can get a power switch for a macintosh Mac 4100 I can't find it anywhere and I would so greatly appreciate if somebody could help me find where I could find macintosh parts I've looked on eBay they don't have the part I need

I don't know where you can find one but in the back of the 4100 there is a convenience switch. Green outlets. It would bypass the power switch, turn on the receiver when an turntable or something else was plugged into it. May work with a cd player? google it for more info.
