His voice has some of the twanginess of country, but Myles is definitely a rock singer and one of the best period. He was the the singer for all of the songs on the Rock Star movie that Mark Wahlberg was in and was the guy he pulled on stage at the end. There is a more studio version video of this song under just Myles Kennedy instead of Alter Bridge and it’s phenomenal.

You need to watch their rendition of the song called “black bird”. This guy’s range is insane.

Myles Kennedy is sick with his vocal range!! Alter Bridge has an awesome catalog that I hope you check out. Mark Tremonti is an insanely talented with the guitar, legendary!! They definitely rock out!! Check out their songs "Open Your Eyes", "In Loving Memory", and "Metalingus".

So glad you are discovering the incredible Myles Kennedy and Alter Bridge. Myles isn't a country singer but his voice has some qualities which fit well into that genre, eg. warmth in his lower register and some twang although his voice is generally much higher (he's a tenor whereas most country singers are baritones) . He has a few solo albums out now and he does play around with a few country sounding songs too although he's predominantly a rock and blues man. The vocal qualities you picked up on are also something shared by grunge/post grunge singers who Myles grew up with so there is an element of overlap. The band Alter bridge define themselves as melodic hard rock with metal influences but they also have beautiful rock ballads like this one which sound great when played acoustically. Myles is imo the best rock singer alive today and one of the greatest of all time. He has a four octave vocal range and trained in Bel Canto (an operatic technique.) Myles is a technically brilliant singer, he has excellent control and knows how to look after his voice. Despite being 52, he still sounds almost exactly the same as he did at 30 and still hits all the high notes night after night even though he tours with 3 separate projects (Slash Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Alter Bridge & Myles Kennedy) Alter Bridge have never got the attention they deserved in the US, they sell out huge arenas here in the UK and in Mainland Europe though and remain one of the best live bands in hard rock. Would love to see you react to more Alter Bridge, their live performances are often even better than the studio version.

I’m a huge Myles Kennedy fan and In my opinion one of his best live songs he sings are his covers of hallelujah. You will enjoy them. Also if you want to be blown away listen to him in his earlier band The Mayfield Four the song Summer girl , especially the second half of the song is astounding

It’s not that Alter Bridge is country, but that in this song, there are aspects of his vocals that have some country twang to it.
