Marsch der Freiwilligen Jäger aus den Befreiungskriegen (1813). Composed in 1813 for the Prussian Jägertruppe (also: Alter Jägermarsch, known in Switzerland under the title Sechseläutenmarsch).

The Soviets played a version of this march on their WW2 victory parade 24th June 1945, which I find very interesting, since it's a German march. (You can hear it in Mark Felton's video titled 'Stalin's Nazi Flags')

This march has a really interestiong history. It was written in 1913 by Heinrich Homann. Then, after anti-french coalition was created (which included UK, Austria, Sweden, Russia and Prussia) Russia also sterted to using this march as a present from Prussia (really funny, but this information from history book for musicians, I studied at musical school).In WW1 Russian Empire and German empire used this march in some kind of different, but similar versions. We, russians, call this composition "German-Russian march". *P.S: If I did some grammar mistakes, Sorry, this is Putin's fault* Greetings from Russia

This piece is from Russia. Created by Anton Dorfeldt at the time music instructor for the Russian military. You can find his other pieces in the AMS that was shared shortly after the Napoleonic Wars. Prussia borrowed his from Russia due to a large amount of Russian influence over the country from music, uniforms, tactics, culture.

Yes Germany had close ties ever since Katharina the Great and also the alliance against Napoleon. It´s quite sad that this brotherly connection was killed in the 20th cent.

Dr. Ludwig Yes, the Holy Alliance was a great representation of the concert of Europe and German and Russian friendship. I recall reading about a large Prussian military parade with the monarchs of Prussia (Frederich Wilhelm II) and Russia (Alexander I) present. Edit: (Der Grobe Zapfenstreich) They begin the procession with slavic orthodox songs (Kol Slaven which they still play), debuts of new marches (I think Prussian Present March). It really showed how close Russia and the Germans were.

Yes and we also called a huge square in Berlin Alexanderplatz and had the Alexander march. Also the March from Petersburg became famous^^

Dr. Ludwig Yup, also the Kaiser Alexander Grenadiers named after the Russian Tsar Alexander I who was its colonel in chief. Funny how things change.
