Hi guys, FYI, Codegroup is a 'doze utility that I used to "encode" pgp disks to morse code capable text files for easy transfer from one machine to another. create a pgp disk, convert it to ascii with PGP, and then use codegroup to encode it. Pgp disk files can be formatted with ntfs, and I could hide things in the alternate data streams, so a riddle wrapped in an enigma, transportable by morse code. I wrote a paper about it Very cool stuff, loved the vid. keep up the good work!

Bahahaha Hot glue the USB ports! I love you Darren. I could totally see two audio cables going between two computers in the corner so you could read your cryptic messages from your hacking partners. That would be interesting to see if someone could even find the message let alone decrypt the GPG lol.

Really great idea, however both can be intercepted if your room was bugged. You'd be better using IR or another type of LoS optical method like RONJA, if you needed to send large files. This way it cant be eavesdropped and would be difficult to mitm.

Look up some of the ham radio text modes beyond CW. There are many meant for text communication on a wide range of frequencies that have some clever error correction included.

@Hak5Darren, Before floppy drives were common computers used cassette tapes to store software and data. This was before modems became affordable. You could send a very long message on cassette using snail mail. Not likely one of the data paths the NSA is monitoring. Fun way to send someone a cat video.

Wow that's really cool, I'm going to try this out. I'm interested what the maximum data rate you could achieve with a cable between the computers using this technique

I tried to use minimodem on my Raspberry Pi, but i couldn't produce any sound. Is some additional config required? Or do I need to use external USB DAC instead of built-in audio output?

so much fun! Is there a way to export the sound to an mp3 file?

After the "optics" video i thought this was gonna involve QR code over SSTV or just plain spectrogram steganography

Well one could encode the PGP-message using base36 which would work over morse ;)

It would be cool to hook up senders and receivers to laser audio transmitters :)

Is there a tool like minimodem available for Android? I'm looking into ways to transfer data without traditional wireless communication. Something with an API would be fantastic.
