Alternatives to Digital Picture Frames became obvious when I looked at the Echo Show, Facebook Portal, and the Google Nest Hub. This presentation discusses the use of Digital frames and looks at why Show, Portal, and Hub have added value to display your pictures.

16:33 hi this was a great video explaining things very simply. What would you advise using if you just wanted to display daily quotes that have been uploaded to a usb. I’ve tried using a raspberry pi but was wondering if you might be able to advise a cheaper way? Thanks so much

While you can't specifically set up Google Photos or Apple iCloud Photos directly with the Echo Show, you can definitely use the Amazon Photos app and use that service with the photos you have by allowing your photos to be uploaded to Amazon Photos automatically.

I want to use a TV to mount to the wall and use Google Photos to continuously display photos. What ar the steps to do this? Do I need to have my computer continuously running to generate the photos? Here is my goal; I want to run pictures with captions of the veterans in our church. Right now, they have a frame with pictures that is about 10 years old. Impractical and dated and not easily kept up to date. Thanks for any help provided.

Jeff. Great Idea and very easy to do. All Smart TV's come with a " Photo APP " installed on the TV for displaying picture albums. My TCL TV has an App called " Photo View " that is pre-installed. In the set up it links to Google Photos. Just select the Album you want and set for continuous play. No need for a computer as it is all done through the TV. The TV does need Internet access. You can get a 32" TCL TV for $168 on sale with Amazon and maybe even cheaper on Prime Day.

@@TechforSenior Great idea. Someone suggested an all-in-one computer but those are a lot more expensive than a "smart smart" TV. Thanks! I'll let you know how it comes out.

@@TechforSenior One other question Ron. Since I have not tried this yet; will we have to keep the TV on all the time? We will probably turn it off when no one is there. When we have people there, we will turn it on. I'm hoping it will run continually from the TV to rotate Google Photos and when we turn on the TV, it will already have the photos running. My guess is that it won't and we have to reconnect each time. Not a big deal for me but others may not be so inclined to do that.

Correct. It is an App on the TV that closes when the TV is turned off. That is how mine works on my TCL TV's. I am not sure if is the same for all TV Makes.

Remember if you do use FB, Google, or Nest, they will be recording your life because they need the personalized information to advertise better to you...
