The one and only major problem of our luxury van build has been the alternator burning out repeatedly. We made a lot of changes and finally success! Hopefully others can learn from our changes.

If it burns out, take dual alternator bracket and alternator ,go back to stock alternator, all you need is victory dc to dc and it works with your stock alternator without anything extra. GOOD LUCK HOPE YOUR PROBLEM STAYS SOLVED

A Dc to Dc charger would not come close to the amount of charging we need to replenish the amp usage we use each day. We typically use 500-600 amp hours overnight and only drive about 4 hours per day. The Nations alternator is working great now!

I had nations install a high output alternator in my RV van. I had electric demon’s from then on. Just saying. Eventually purchased a new van and stuck with the OEM alternator. Works fine.

BEL 3 is nowhere near enough for LFP batts..

I’m guessing that your DC-DC charger is set incorrectly. It’s allowing too large of an Amp draw (see Victron’s video).

No Dc-Dc charger. It has a Balmar regulator programmed for lithium. Lithium can except a .5c charge which would be over 550 amps so not a problem at all.

Why install the alternator so low to the ground, wouldn’t debris get into the wires and short the whole thing?

It is about 17” above grade and that is 4” above the frame cross member. This is where the Nation’s alternator kit mounts it.

Wiring checked numerous times. Unrelated to the starter as the hours wiring is completely separate from the chassis side.

That is where the Nations alternator kit puts it. It is 14” above the ground. Doubt it will ever see mud that high.

@@chuckanddebbie You're going to see mud that high the next time you drive on a wet road! Any dirt mixed with water, it's going in those louvres, it's going to shred the bearings and commutator bar and seize the brushes in their sliders. Starters go on bottom; starters don't need louvres. This is Silicon Valley engineering at is finest.

Already been on wet dirt roads several times. Not sure what Silicon Valley comment is about. I live in Florida and Nations Alternator is in Missouri. Hundreds, if not thousands of these alternator kits have been installed and I have not heard one story of mud destroying it. I’ll continue to take my chances.

Dc-Dc chargers do not supply enough amps to charge 1,120 amp hour lithium bank. They are used to charge from the factory alternator not a second dedicated alternator.
