I would highly recommend replacing the AC condenser while you have the radiator out. If it dirty the new rad isn't going to breathe as well. I would also highly recommend flushing out the whole engine and heater core so you don't clog up the new rad. Just my two cents.

For future reference, the radiator hose clamps are 8mm or 5/16". A socket and 1/4" driver works well for these. Just did this upgrade to my 95 XJ. Got mine on Amazon for $107.00. Also mine is a manual transmission. Great job as usual. God bless, stay well. I also removed my airbox to give better access to the lower hose.

Today I had to take out the radiator from my Cherokee 4L 2001 for replacement and it was the original 20 years of service man. Those years are gone, now you buy anything and doesn't last a shit. Excuse my language. I learned a lot from you and it makes so much easier for repairs or to go to a mechanic and understand what he's telling me. Thanks 👍keep the great job.

Pretty good lighting and coverage with tool information. Another good thing is that you did not add any background or lead in music that can be annoying. I have yet to do this for my girlfriends '89 XJ that I will be adding a drain valve with a length of hose. In doing this I'll be able to drain and change the coolant as needed into a receiving container. I did this previously on the '97 ZJ LTD and it has made coolant system work so much easier. Thank you for the great coverage on this topic. :)

Should’ve done this when you did the t-stat and water pump then go ahead and do the hoses, tensioner pulley as well. If you’re getting an older used vehicle just go ahead and do everything Rated at same time.. do all cooking at once. Do all braking at once.. will save you a lot of time and money in the long run and will help when a problem occurs to not be constantly chasing ill crap vs new crap. While you’re at it now would also be the time to replace fans if needed as well as transmission cooler

Austin, thanks for the great video. Helped a lot when i overhauled and beefed up my cooling system. Ordered this same rad from blackhorse racing on ebay and it works as you described (never touch 210F). The one thing i ran into was i had to transfer the old trans cooler fittings over to the new radiator as the included fittings were the wrong size. How did you shim up the radiator at the bottom mounts? Mine does sit low in the frame by about 1/2”-3/4” since the new rad has mount pins welded to the bottom and the factory lower radiator insulators would not transfer over...
@OutJeeping
@OutJeeping 2 жыл бұрын
I was able to transfer over my lower isolaters. If it doesn't fit on yours then you might need to get a little creative and find some other grommets or maybe a little piece of rubber hose.
@Wtfbbq23

I had a buddy that me some adhesive backed foam rubber blocks about 3/4” thick that i was able to wedge inbetween the frame and rad, seems to have worked :)

Bought this same radiator from a different vendor and now my 1999 Xj sport runs at 210 and sometimes spikes over that driving on the San Diego freeways... I replaced the fan clutch, thermostat, hoses, water pump and no improvement. My jeep ran at perfect temperature before this radiator but the old one leaked. I do not approve of this radiator at all and you can't grasp how pissed I am. Now I need to replace my new radiator.
@OutJeeping
@OutJeeping 6 жыл бұрын
Jay S That's weird, mine early gets over 210 and that's when I'm on the trail in 90 degree heat. Other then that on the highway it keeps a crack under 210 the whole time. You might have an air pocket trapped in there.

Was there ever a video for an upgraded electric fan assembly? Or anyone have a suggestion for one? My OEM replacements keep failing. I have the exact same radiator and I'm overheating when I'm idling. My electric fan isn't coming on unless I turn my air conditioning on.
@OutJeeping
@OutJeeping 4 жыл бұрын
I dont have a video on upgraded fans but the stick fan setup should work just fine. The stock electric fan should kick on at 215 degrees, if it's not kicking on it could be a bad temp sensor or something else electrical is messed up. You could also always wire in a fan override switch.

Hey my radiator didn’t come with any of those fittings, more specifically the quick disconnect. I’m having so much trouble finding the correct one that’s ours thread right into the spot. Any idea or place you can get that fitting? Thanks
@OutJeeping
@OutJeeping 4 жыл бұрын
If you are able to figure out the size thread for the radiator you can find fittings at any hardware store or online like Amazon. You could get rid of this quick disconnect on the bottom of the radiator and is put a barbed fitting to fit the line over. As far as a top transmission line you would want to keep that threaded into the radiator.
