I’ve never paid attention to the drum line before since I’m out of college but my goodness they’re amazing. I see why they made that movie when I was a kid. Truly the heartbeat of the band.

Yes original Prancing Jaycette Ms. Ronda Jackson Chambliss... She, Myra White, Rita Royal, Lula High, etc. were all JSC Majorettes/Twirlers and Hang 'em High thus creating the transition into becoming original Prancing Jaycettes... The beloved founder, Shirley Middleton Blakey Era... Love it!💙

I had the privilege of knowing Ms. Blakely and wish that someone could post a picture of her! She was a tall, shapely and stunning beauty herself with natural hair that reached her hips. She was the epitome and model for every "prancing Jaycettes." She married COL Clyde Blakely, a Professor of Science assigned to the ROTC Department (1971- 74). This time frame may vary a year or two).

This is one of those moments where I look at HBCUs in awe. I didn’t go to an HBCU, but this is truly amazing! Soooo sooo rich in tradition and culture.
