I think I recognize this footage, if anyone's curious it’s from an event called “Expo 67” hosted on an island in Montreal that happened for one year in 1967 hence the title, where a bunch of nations participated in showcasing different parts of their culture. Many of the buildings and structures were very futuristic looking, designed to show off the peak of architecture and technology, including the monorail transportation you see in the video, and a few films even used it for a sci-fi setting. I think the setting works perfectly for the dream like quality of the music :) (Edit: forgot to include that the editing of the band into the old footage is wonderfully done with the film grain and the matching of the locations, it's seems like they're almost really there! Kudos to the editors)

[Verse 1] Rode here on the bus Now you're one of us It was magic hour Counting motorbikes on the turnpike One of Eisenhower's [Pre-Chorus 1] Live your life on a merry-go-round Who starts a fire just to let it go out? [Chorus] If I saw you on the street, would I have you in my dreams tonight? If I saw you on the street, would I have you in my dreams tonight, tonight? [Verse 2] On the lead guitar Said you'd go to work In the waking hour In fluorescent light Antisocialites watch a wilting flower [Pre-Chorus 2] Live your life on a merry-go-round Who builds a wall just to let it fall down? [Chorus] If I saw you on the street, would I have you in my dreams tonight? If I saw you on the street, would I have you in my dreams tonight, tonight? If I saw you on the street, would I have you in my dreams tonight, tonight? If I saw you on the street, would I have you in my dreams tonight, tonight? [Bridge] Don't sit by the phone for me Wait at home for me, all alone for me Your face was supposed to be hanging over me like a rosary So morose for me; seeing ghosts of me; writing oaths to me Is it so naive to wonder... [Chorus] If I saw you on the street, would I have you in my dreams tonight, tonight? If I saw you on the street, would I have you in my dreams tonight, tonight? If I saw you on the street, would I have you in my dreams tonight, tonight? If I saw you on the street, would I have you in my dreams tonight, tonight?

Cleaner Production. More trained voices from Molly and Kerri. Effects and synths cleaner and better used. More energy and noise, and they have a reason inside each song. They reached their own sound and style. And more technicality from the instruments, more in the guitars.

I have been with this girl for almost 3years now and now we seem to be growing distant from each other slowly. The love we felt once for each other isn't there anymore. But I still love her. I come back here every night to listen to this song while thinking about the memories we made together. Maybe this will fall apart someday, but I'll always love her. I just don't want to let out the fire we have in between us. I wish I can dream of her every night when I go to sleep.

Heard this song last night on the train in Japan. I was mesmerized by the singer's voice. Looked up the band (Alvvays) on KZfaq and was mesmerized once again by singer Molly Rankin and this video. They spliced the band into footage from Expo '67 in Montreal like something out of Forrest Gump and it all just fits so beautifully.

That's a dreamy song to listen to on a train in Japan! It has a bit "Lost in Translation" vibes... In fact I compiled a playlist with songs that I wanna listen to on a train in Japan, and I just added this one, as well. :)

Was in the city a while ago and briefly talked with a guy who had just gotten finished playing guitar and singing. He was so beautiful and eloquent that it almost felt like I had just dreamed him up, but I couldn't stay for too long because I had to catch up with my family. Then in the next store I stopped at, this song was playing. I feel love for strangers way more than I do for people I actually know, I swear.

Is the archival footage from the 1967 Montreal World Fair? Man, I love that flavor of futurism. I was born not too long after that, and that was still very much my childhood aesthetic and what we imagined the world’s utopian near-future would look like. In a sense, to this day I’m still shell-shocked by how abruptly the Thatcher/Reagan ‘80s were imposed on us … how quickly corporate media put a halt to anyone talking about community, or social change, or shared aspirations. The kids are alright, though … maybe they’ll still realize that future for us all, one way or another!

I know! This record has so many layers it's unreal how "better" the songwriting got. And I mean that in all respect to the first album...that first album was just amazing in itself, but this record is just another universe. I can't believe some of the reviews of this record that just aren't getting it. They want all the songs to be "Archie" and it just can't happen with a band like this. Plimsoll Punks is one of the best songs I've ever heard, PERIOD! When I first heard this song I could not get it out of my head.
