And you can set it to always be off until you want it on and then you can just press the button on the controller. You can also hokd the button for a few seconds and it will mute all sound even the sound coming from the tv so you can hear everything around you. Its like a mute button on the tv remote except instead of reaching for that remote you can just hold the button on the controller and make it easier and faster

To fix it just hold the mute button till it says on your screen that the mic and headphones are muted,now you won’t hear any sound from the controller but you could also switch voice channels depending on which game you are playing

If no one knows yet, there is a small white line under the PS button. You can simply press it and it will light up orange and that means your microphone on the controller is off👍🏻

There’s a setting in the menu to have the microphone off by default. I do that because I exclusively play single player games anyways and want to save battery.

There's a button there for it which has a light to show it's muted...and it can be set to mute by default. Set it to mute by default, a day one setting change for sure .

GO INTO SETTINGS AND YOU CAN LITERALLY HAVE IT SET TO MUTE. SO EVERY TIME YOU LOG IN YOU WILL HAVE TO UNMUTE YOURSELF. YOU ARE WELCOME.

You can make it where it automatically mutes to mic every time you turn the console on. You can also just press the button.

You do know that the little button over the speaker mutes your mic right and if you hold it it will mute your whole tv

Yeah, I used to have this problem a lot. Now, I just set the mic to automatically mute in the sound settings and there are no problems.... ...unless I start a stream and forget to unmute. 😂
