On Canada Day 1992 I almost jumped the fence to get Joan Jett's autograph after she did an outdoor concert. A guy who looked like an ex-football player gave me a "Go ahead, make my day" glare and I chickened out. Fast forward to February 1994 when I was getting to know a friend of a friend and I commented I really like Joan Jett. He said he did too and that back in 1992 he protected Joan Jett from a drug crazed fan. I thought "Wait a minute, without the mustache, OMG HE'S THAT GUY!!" I went into my bedroom, put on the hat I wore that day, walked out and said "I was NOT that stoned, I didn't jump the fence and all you did was give me a glare." Our mutual friend laughed so hard, he was rolling on the couch.

My lame claim to fame is that several years ago I wrote some alternate lyrics for Three Doors Down's _Kryptonite_, sent it to the PC Gamer Society music group, they recorded it over the weekend, and after submitting it to PlanetHalfLife their own website crashed twice. I titled it 'Got a Light?' (to match _Kryptonite_), but they called it Pyroman. Incredibly it's still around, right here on youtube, and amusingly, it's something I did because of Weird Al.

Hell, *I* have a Bacon number of 2! I worked in the transportation dept of a film with Kevin's wife Kyra Sedgewick and a multiple-costar of his, Kiefer Sutherland. My brother got hired as a set carpenter, and would get the college student on summer vacation to drive him to and from work. A couple days in, not just my brother, but the head carpenter, a couple of grips or similar, the director of photography....and Kiefer aall pile into my van. We go over to a local pub-pool hall and 'relax' with some drinks - they had beer, I took soda since I was driving - and shot a few games of pool. (He's a very mellow dude, off-set I guess). Next day, when I drop my brother off at the set, the transportation manager stops me and asks if I want to work for them - a few weeks of driving people around - carpenters to get building supplies, costumers to get JUST THE RIGHT BUTTONS for an outfit, misc crew to watering holes after shooting's over, even took Stockard Channing and her luggage up to the airport after the filming was done. In the end, I got some not too onerous work for the summer, became acquainted with some of the local 'prominent actors' who I often still get nods and waves from today, years later, and got the first hint that driving (in a low-stress situation like 'carriage of goods and passengers') was really my gig: I'm now a happy taxi driver. ...Oh, and is the Bacon Number thing lame or legit? I feel it'd work either way.

I once typed a comment on "Weird Al" Yankovic's KZfaq video for Lame Claim to Fame, and it was nearly completely ignored by "Weird Al" Yankovic, until I mentioned the word osselot, which I probably spelled incorrectly. However, sadly, the comment I typed fell into obscurity when "Weird Al" Yankovic realized that he wasn't the actual "Weird Al" Yankovic, but merely a figment of my imagination that was a replica of "Weird Al" Yankovic, and so the truth is, "Weird Al" Yankovic never read this comment. Or maybe he did, and was going to reply with a recording contract and a free salad, but then suddenly had to go to Mexico for a pinata party, where there wasn't enough lubricant, and never replied back. Disillusioned with life, the comment began drinking and abusing chemicals, and went into a land where there is nothing but the 'thumbs down' icon. And the whole story, is true. Yep. I'm famous now. They all know me. Just wish I could have had that salad.

I built Sandra Bullock's first PC. and sold it to her dad as a gift for her. back in 1995. in 1986 at the age of 10 I was running through LAX after losing track of my parents and slammed right into Eddie Murphy and he helped me back up. Finally I had an informal chat with Phil Donnohue on a dock where his boat was docked in Boston Harbor when I was 14. My mom stood behind Hulk Hogan and chatted with him at the airport in New York, but didn't know who he was until someone else pointed it out later. And my mom sat at the table across from Mel Gibson in a restaurant in Bangor Maine when he was filming "The Man Without A Face".

Big deal. A cousin of my best friend growing up was one of the hillbillies in that Patrick Swayze/Liam Neeson movie, Next of Kin. Had a line and everything: he's the one who releases the dogs, then gets taken hostage in the cemetery scene at the end. Dude got saved by Patrick Swayze, got a credit and everything, and I actually met him. Hell, I even smoked weed with him. That pretty much makes me Swayze's best buddy. I won't even mention any of the marginally famous people I had in my cab when I drove one, or that they filmed part of White Palace next to my cousin's house, or that I dined and dashed from the Denny's that stood in for the car lot next to Susan Sarandon's house in that movie once. A good friend of mine took a picture with Weird Al at the Vic Theater in Chicago.... 3 years after I stopped doing lights there. I was doing lights for the Gin Blossoms as he was stage managing for Al. If you're ever at the Golden Nugget Showroom in Las Vegas, knock on the glass of the lighting booth and say hi, you too can have a lame claim to fame!

1. Someone who has the same name as me (His last name was spelled differently, but pronounced the same.) was on a morning show because he went to jail. My aunt called my mom, and told her to watch the show. Then my mom told me about it. 2. Long story: (and I don't know if this would be a lame claim) I've been interested in music my whole life, and I have all sorts of instruments. In 2013 I got en electronic drum pad for Christmas. Then, my family and I were watching the Grammys, and some artists (including Stevie Wonder) performed a version of Get Lucky by Daft Punk. My dad noticed that Stevie Wonder was playing the same kind of drum pad I got.
