Lee Trevino famously said that if you're ever in a storm on the golf course, hold up a 1 iron, because not even God can hit a 1 iron.
Well, I decided to test out the theory and see if I can hit one.
I took the 1-degree Bombtech 1 iron out on the course for a spin to see how it performs off of the tee and off the fairway.
Am I just like God, as Trevino said, or can I pull it off?

I love my bomb tech 1 iron, I picked one up last year. Took me 10ish hit to get the hang of it, but i love it now. My group told me I shouldn't have wasted my money on it since i started playing last spring, they don't say anything now when i stripe it down the fairway. 😂

Golfworks makes a very easy to hit trio of utility irons 19, 21 and 23*. I have the 23* and even though my swing speed is on the slower side it is easy to launch and very accurate.

My 1 iron is my favourite club and I mainly use it off the tee but at 64 I still hit the ball a long way and the 1 iron keeps me on the fairway

Found an old 1 iron at a thrift store. The guys at Golftown got a real kick out of it when i brought it for regripping. I named it Buzz for it’s unforgiving temperment during an off hit..

My 1i is a knight approach utility. I hit that thing further and straighter than any driver ive owned. Love the thing.

Weird set up to your ball. I used to use a 1 iron when I was younger. Only took it out when I was in trouble. Don’t have to line it close to the back foot to de-loft it like a 3/4iron I use now. I think I might want one.

If you're hitting this 260+ how far do you hit a driver lol? The one shot was 256 down hill about 30+ feet.

That tee shot is definitely a drop. I typically get a 3 wood out around 285-290 on that same shot. In terms of Driver, Nice and smooth is typically over 300 easy, and If I got after it, it can get up to 315-320.

Any place to have forum to hear the various members here talk about different single length manufacturers and experience with golf sets from these different mfg?

I’ve previously had a forum on my site, which really didn’t have a lot of communication. Just a few guys back and forth. Honestly, if you want some good back and forth regarding single length, there’s is a group on Facebook called “Playing Golf with One Length Irons”. There’s some good things in there and I’ll chime in where I feel appropriate as necessary.

The 1 iron is a shoot & feeling, thats dont feel like anything else! Most average player says, its to hard shoot to pull off! The same player just use their drive Tee off! They never use their driver off fairways! The on iron can be a veru good use off tee & on fairways! Should a ,id hcp has 1 iron, No their best choice is maybee a 2 hybrid! If you are a low hcp thats enjoy shapings your iron shoots, Yes it can bee for you! Best Regards Peter Eriksson retired Pga & Edga Pro Sweden Europe! Interesting. That’s only two degrees stronger than the Cobra 3i utility one length. Have you hit the cobra utility one length iron? How did the distance compare?

I have hit the 3 utility. Distance was around 240-245. So roughly 20 yards shorter. My 4i is 230ish. The length is 40”.

Bombtech clubs are a great value. I have a 2 & 3 and them when I want a piercing drive off the deck.

I have this club and all bombtech 3.0 irons and wedge set. I play better with these than I do my single length in1zone. However I can't hit the 1 iron so need more practice

The 1 iron is definitely harder to hit. I’ve not had the chance to try the In1Zone so I don’t know how the quality is. They won’t send me a set... maybe bombtech should get in the single length game 😂

@@fink4569 typically I see issues the other end of the bag with gapping with most of my students. Hard to say what it could be without seeing it.
