This was great. The doctor defended his mortality as being himself from his grossest aspects of body, to the finer aspects of thought and perception, with the guru following his thought process, eliminating them one by one, and finally when nothing was left, there was a complete release, and the invisible ME appeared, and stood alone as the true being. The good intelligent doctor fought hard to maintain his separateness, but in the end, it vanished.

Yes.. the same thing He Said... It's U.. ( not that Patient), who is restricted with the information ( about how to get Connected with that Patient), that U Have Gathered, over the period of time.. ( As time will Pass, U might gain more information, technology to connect with such Persons).. But that doesn't mean, at current instant of time, That Person is not there ( He is Alive). Person is Still There.. just We r Restricted By The Knowledge, Gathered by Our OWN BODY, MIND.. We r Restricted by Our own IMAGINATION, Understanding.. etc. And.. one has to first try to overcome his/her Own Restriction.. and Understand That, there can me more probability, than what I Currently Knows. And this PROBABILITIES are INFINITE... So.. to Understand THE INFINITE... we ourselves should first become INFINITE i.e. Not Restricted by our own FINITE Body, Mind, Intelligence, Information, created Technology etc. (Mostly Our Own EGO.. - Belief that "I am This" and "UNDERSTANDING" that, what so ever I do.. "I am Nothing" ) "UNDERSTANDING is always Superior than KNOWLEDGE, one Gathered"

The way I look at what he is saying is... my body is a collection of food etc I've eaten, my thoughts are due to a collection of things I've experienced. My body is mine, my thoughts are mine... but who I ~am~ is not these things. I don't necessarily have to be defined by how my body is, or how my thoughts are. If I eat a chicken, I am not the chicken, yet the chicken has become a part of me. If I sit in a chair always, so much so that every time someone sees me, I am sitting in it... I can say its 'my' chair, but it is not ME. If I experience some bad things, the experiences don't rule me, but become part of me... but they are still not me. I think that is his argument - and it could be argued back that- who you are IS a result of your experiences, but he is saying that is not true, that you are more than a collection of your experiences.

This question ❓ brought to mind when I was Born, who was I, no experiences or accumulation of foods. I was a seed planted like any vegetation or animal with survival instincts with dependence on the elements of our planet. So we are the elements of the planet without all of them we cannot survive. Earth - Accumulation of matter or food my mother ate. Air = 1st breath of life Fire - created by the heartbeat and circulation of the body Water - nourishment to help the body grow indepently, cleanse and purify the physical body. Space - ability to have access to the most important elements and to transport oneself to preserve and protect that self.

If I understood correctly he said that the accumulation of experiences can be called intellect, right? Which seems like you are not. Then the other thing which seems to be "another" thing is the personality, which he claimed would also not be you right? The the question maybe is, what is "you" or what is "I", what am I? What is perceiving the intellect, the personality, the body, the emotions etc. ?

I think this would be better applied if taught during developmental age when we were evolving. If we learned this at say age 10, we would be able to separate who we are becoming from our experiences. As we grow older, we begin to internalize our experiences, they become who we are. I wish I had learned Buddhism in my teens, taught my kids and their kids.
