The First Light Guiding Ama Dablam Expedition 2017 highs and lows.
Watch us climbing in the pre monsoon season (April through May) as we walk from Jiri to Ama Dablam Base Camp and ascend the Southwest Ridge. Surrounded by magnificent scenery and stunning climbing we enjoyed the mountain in its off-peak finest.

Excellent video, enthralled from the very start. AMA Dablam looks to be a very serious mountain to climb even though its not a 8k peak. Thanks for taken the time to share. Cheers

This is a great video. Loved every second of it and it's true mountaineering. What an experience and with different conditions / luck you would of reached the summit. Nice work.

Thanks Mark. It was a lot of fun to make. As you picked up, it was a lot of fun...very real....and still very rewarding without a summit. Safe climbing

@@firstlightguiding9635 ----- It is as much fun, if not more, to watch sensible climbers admit an abandon, than it is to see video telling of people who perished because they refused to admit any of of a number of good reasons to call it a day. Your abandonment of the summit tells a lot more about the place and the conditions than news of a death.

@@davesmith5656 Thanks for your very kind word Dave. I couldn't agree more. Turning around can seem trivial in hindsight, but it it a critically important decision when made at the right time. No regrets.

Great vid, Gav. It conveys to non-mountaineers like me just what is involved in a climb like that. Dangerous, but exhilarating I would imagine. You won't get me up there but well done you and Damien, best to come home in one piece as Damien said at the end. I see you used my mockup of your logo at the end. Nice one.

So I can't get enough of this in terms of watching people do it. So I don't know shit. But to anyone who sees this and knows, why aren't we seeing The Sherpa more here?
@firstlightguiding9635
@firstlightguiding9635 3 жыл бұрын
Sherpa's are not compulsory but we did hire 2 cooks, porters to base camp and a liaison officer, most of which is impossible to go without.

and how about the permit ??? what permits need to climb indepentent to amadablam ?
@firstlightguiding9635

You can obtain permits from the ministry of tourism. The simplest way to organise a permit is through an agency - this will be a cheaper option - as the agency will combine multiple groups onto the same permit.
