Back when we were recording Welcome To Mali, Damon Albarn came to visit us in Bamako. This started a new creative process for us as we were used to composing each on our own side. With Sabali, we all came together. We have wonderful memories of this collaboration.

Thanks to Leon Kocharian, I could feel happy again. This reminds me of him. He died in the summer of 2022 and this was his favourite song, whenever I went over to his place he'd have this on. He grew up in an Armenian household with a strict diet of music, listening only to classical music. Knowing that this was a relief to that kind of lifestyle, has always, will always, and must always be something deeply meaningul to me. When he went to Armenia he called me on the plane and said he'd listen to this ATLEAST 4 times... he died in an Azerbijani bombing in Yerevan. Rest In Peace. Loved you bro.

AMADOU ET MARIAM are great icons representing an entire continent, specifically in Mali. You feel their music without even understanding a word. By the way I'm from Mali, Sabali means tolerance. Sometimes it can mean patience or forgiveness. She means when you are in a relationship you should tolerate each other.

Conocí esta canción en 2008 cuando tenia 13 años y existía Nat Geo Music. Posteriormente hicieron una colaboración con mi cantante favorito y con los años me había olvidado de la canción hasta que la reconocí en el comercial de Coca-Cola. J'ai connu la musique de la chanson grâce à l'émission "avec philosophie" de France Culture mais je ne savais pas quel auteur, quelle chanson. Par hasard j'ai retrouvé la chanson en février et depuis c'est ma "go to" quand j'ai besoin de rendre ma journée plus douce.

Esta canción ha estado aquí por 10 años y yo me pregunto: ¿Por qué demonios la vengo a escuchar hasta ahora? ¡Sí! la escuché en el comercial de Coca-Cola y simplemente me cautivó y al investigar un poco sobre Amadou & Mariam, la letra me parece tan romántica, pasional, íntima. ¡Wow! ¡Me encantó!

At first I was surprised that this was actually by Amadou et Mariam, but then I saw Damon Albarn (Blur/Gorillaz) produced this. Hence the great electropop floating vibe.
