Ive played Billiards on full size tables and Pub/Bar Pool, but never on a proper 9 Ball table, please feel free to correct me, is it me that the pockets on these tables are lager than usual, as to me they look like buckets.

A 4 1/2 x 9 pool tables pocket size is, like an 8 ball table, determined by the manufacturer, the league rules, and the country you are playing in. There are no world wide official rules to standardize pocket sizes. Normally a corner pocket for both tables is 2 times the diameter of the balls (2 1/4") for 4 1/2" at the opening and the side pockets are 5" tapering down to 4 1/2" at the actual pocket. Some tables have been built where the corner opening are 5 1/8"" and side pockets are 5 7/8". Both tables normally have angular corner in the pocket throat while snooker tables are rounded, less forgiving, and are sometimes called Boston Corners.
